Bette strode quickly but unhurriedly through London Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3, thinking about what she could do during the three-hour wait for her connecting flight to Luxembourg.     Bette strode quickly but unhurriedly through London Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3, thinking about what she could do during the three-hour wait for her connecting flight to Luxembourg.

    As Bette got to the main hall of the terminal, within sight of the escalator that would take her to the “Clubhouse,” which is how the lounge of the next airline she was going to take, was known, she mentally went over the checklist of things she’d wanted to tick off upon arrival: confirm via email her arrival into Luxembourg that evening, and the meeting with the manager of the Luxembourg freeport during the afternoon of the following day (check); send an iMessage to Tyler she’d arrived in London Heathrow, and would meet up with Diane in the lounge, then they’d try to call him together (check); call Tina (next); schedule a facial (maybe); and, schedule a hair treatment in the lounge’s renowned spa (maybe).

    Although she and Diane had originally planned to take the same flight out of JFK, as Tina had asked Bette to, Diane had rescheduled her departure for an hour and half later, and on a different airline, to take a meeting that her main client in San Francisco had requested just days prior to their departure.

    After some serious juggling and haggling with several airlines, their travel agent managed to reschedule their connecting flight from London to Luxembourg through a third airline so that they could still be on the same flight leaving out of Heathrow. Conveniently, that flight’s departure time was such that Bette wouldn’t have to wait too long between flights, and Diane, arriving later, wouldn’t be too squeezed for time in-between flights.

    Bette pulled over from the main walking lanes of the hall to pause next to entrance to one of the high-end jewelry stores in the terminal, to check her whether the emails and messages she’d left in her outbox had gone out as soon as her phone had picked up a signal once she switched it on.  By force of habit she glanced quickly around her as she did, taking note of who was around her, or could be looking in her direction too long.   Her glance fell on a bracelet that sparkled in the window display as she did a visual sweep.

    4. I really love this story, even though I rarely write a comment.
      but I don’t understand Bette go to wherever, why a woman need to fly like a bird of prey? Bette is a very beautiful woman, but it’s like the women who encounter with her, there is no self-control.
      I always love Bette and Tina’s deep love for each other in this story. but the trouble was that Bette never drew the line against others.
      and Diane was perhaps a little too protective now, compared to a friend’s role.
      I hope Tina will not be angry if Bette tells her the “meeting”.
      the telephone conversation was sweet between them.

    6. Great update! Bette has to be careful right now with an emotionally hormonal Tina. She has to know that she can’t just roam and conquer. I like the sidekick role of Diane. She will kept Bette accountable. Damn that woman has would be lovers everywhere. Keep posting, please.

    7. Thanks for the post. Bette needs a full time body guard just to keep her admirers away! You would think she would have learned to have set boundaries with her admirers since Tina got upset with her “incidents” in the past.

    8. There are things happening in the world that beggar the imagination, I know. But a planeload of people blown out of the sky? Just another level of insanity — all those lives lost. One minute here. The next….

      May not be the right forum, but I just can’t shake the feeling, “there but for the grace of God …” for one who takes to the skies.

      I loved the chapter, especially when I read that Toms sperm was used to fertilize bettes eggs, that is what I was hoping for all along. That is going to be one beautiful baby.
