    Pieces of Time, Chapter III

    [ Chapter 3 ]

“What’s this about?” Angelica asks with a concern toned. “Mama B isn’t moving is she?” She says with panic in her voice while taking her seat beside Bette on the living room sofa.

“No baby, I’m not going anywhere!” Bette says before sipping on her evening tea.

“We just have to talk to you about a certain thing. It is about Mama B but she isn’t going anywhere.” I say looking between Bette and Angelica.

“Sweetie, I can’t keep coming over to your Mama T’s home all the time. I’m very busy and things may begin to change in time.” Bette says.

Angelica nods her head while looking at the ground.

“We both live separate lives now Angel, Mama T and I love each other very much and we love you and your bother and that will never change but you know your mom and I might meet other people, right?”

“Does this mean one of you is seeing another person?” She asks.

Bette looks up at me with a questionable look, not being able to search for her own words on this question.

“No, but one day we will be.” I cut in.

“So this is why you have to stop coming by so often?” Angelica asks looking at her Mama B.

“Yes sweetie and like I said, I’m also busy but you know you get to see me every Saturday, Sunday, Monday and the whole day of Tuesday! Just like your Mama T has you guys Tuesday nights, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.”

“I just love having you over Mama B.”

“I know that sweetie, and this doesn’t mean it is going to stop forever!”
Bette lifts her eyes to look at me and I can feel the hurt in her eyes.

“We’ll still have Mama B over a couple times a month for dinner but baby, you knew that this couldn’t continue like this forever.” I say looking into my daughters eyes.

“I hate all of this.” Angie says as she quickly stands and tramples her way up the stairs.

    “Angie-“ I begin to say.

“T, let her be alone for a little while.” Bette says cutting me off from my words.

“I thought she was over this.”

“No kid can truly get over the fact that their parents aren’t together.”
