My first time…a Sci-Fi Story Chapter 1- Background and starting point.

    New Pasadena, 7:30 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2056.

Bette Porter, among other second-year students from different majors, has been summoned by the director of recruitment and new students orientation office at the New California Institute of Art, Science, Environment and Technology Dr. Phyllis Kroll. This practice has been repeated during the last twenty-two years, three years after the “big-one” wiped the Americas (north, central and south) west coast. Particularly LA was extremely affected and most of the population annihilated.

It was really hard at the beginning of the events, in less than 30 years the world population was reduced almost to an eighth, from 7.5 billion to 950 millions of human beings, even less than in the year 1900.

Initially it was the hatred, the fight for supremacy, economic power, which transcended nations, families, beliefs and human rights, so there were violence and terrorism, then the advent of new viruses, antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and diseases so there were epidemics; simultaneously we lost the battle for environmental sustainability, so there was pollution, global warming, glacial melting, polar vortexes, follow by volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, radioactive, chemical and biohazards leaks, in summary toxicity, contamination and the final consequences were death, mutation and sterile people, not to mention the destruction of animals and vegetation, this period because of the devastation entailed was called “hecatomb”.

The WHO (World Health Organization) made some desperate recommendations.

    – Priority is to preserve human life, so, collect and store genetic specimens (ovum and spermatozoa) in genetic and ova-sperm banks granted per family, so each family could store their genetic material to guaranty descendants even for sterile parents and of course for LGBT couples.

    – Every couple heterosexual or homosexual was welcome to procreate.

    – It was encouraged technological developments to facilitate the procreation process in order to make it easy and pleasant to the future parents whatever their sex was.

    – In order to guaranty physical and mental health and generate high values and mutual respect to build a new society starting with under age humans, strict rules were established for education, recreation and life style especially on human rights, sexuality and sexual behavior and orientation, encouraging cooperation and community service, diversity and environmentalism.

In consequence, nowadays (the year 2056) more than 50% of humanity is homosexual, migration restriction among different countries and nationalities have been reduced, human rights issues have almost vanished.
