Hey guys, I’m just going to go ahead to the party at The Planet. And can you please check on Tina and see how she’s holding up? She’s not feeling very well.” Alice said to Shane and Helena, who were immersed in a documentary about Homosexual Tendencies in Bottlenose dolphins. Both were enjoying the documentary so much that they literally did not hear Alice speak. Alice walked over and turned the TV off, startling the two couch potatoes.

“Guys! Did you even listen to what I said?”

Helena jumped. “Why’d you turn off the TV? I was entertained by queer dolphin discoveries Alice! Did you have any idea that dolphins could be gay?”

“Actually Helena I did. I write an essay about Bottlenose dolphins and gayness my freshman year of college. And my teacher was a dimwit and failed me on it! Guess she was a homophobe…”

Shane stood up. “Alice, why don’t you go ahead and go check on Tina, and go help Kit or something. I still gotta go shower and I’ll probably take about half an hour. I smell like sweat after all those errands I ran for my new boss today” She left and got into the bathroom. Helena stared blankly at Alice.

I smell like sweat after all those errands I ran for my new boss today” She left and got into the bathroom. Helena stared blankly at Alice. BCBG cashmere dress?” Helena pondered aloud, scamming through the tightly-packed closet She couldn’t find it, so she assumed it must be at the cleaner’s. “Great. Now what?” Helena had very few dresses she actually wore. She had just gotten her money back and had decided to be more careful with it. Therefore, she wouldn’t be spending much on fancy clothes. But this was a pretty particular piece of clothing. It was a dress she bought a few years back, and she loved how it looked on her. It accentuated every curve and since it was black, it thinned her. Now she’d just have to figure out what else to wear. However, she did not want to look over-the-top. She wasn’t really looking for a fling right now. The only one she had her eyes on was blind when it came to her.

She untied her blouse’s buttons and pulled off her slacks. Her hair was collected and made into a large bun. She looked like a mess. Hopefully a bit of makeup would help since she had no time to shower.

Suddenly, Shane opened the door. Helena practically threw herself behind the bed.

”Oh, I’m, I’m sorry, Helena, um, I’ll wait outside.” Both could feel the redness creeping up on their cheeks. Blushing was an understatement. Helena would’ve wanted Shane to stay. But all she did was nod as Shane left the room. She couldn’t believe she still hadn’t told her or anyone else for that matter. But honestly, who in their friend group would understand her love for a woman who couldn’t stay in a relationship? And Helena was certain that she could help Shane. She knew they would be different. For the better.

“You look…different somehow…pretty, as usual”. Shane stuttered, nervous for some reason. It was a weird feeling for her since she seldom got butterflies when talking to a girl. She had no clue what was making her see Helena like this. And the timing couldn’t be worse: both living under a roof and Jenny found killed recently. Everyone was still trying to accustom to police officers asking them questions 24/7. Besides, Shane wasn’t even sure what these feelings were. She simply knew she liked Helena. A lot. And this desire for Helena wasn’t only physical, but emotional too. But Shane McCutcheon didn’t do relationships. And this whole deal with feelings and thoughts terrified the shit out of her. Helena was Helena. Tina’s ex. Bette’s nemesis, and her recent roommate. It wouldn’t be right if they decided to just have a thing now. Shane didn’t even know how Helena felt, if she even felt anything. So again, Shane tossed her feelings aside and hid her Helena epiphany, returning to being Shane, the polygamous charmer everyone knew (or thought they knew)
