I Will Not Let You Fall

Bette was sitting in the passenger seat of the SUV, preparing to go inside the rehab centre, where her sister Kit was being treated with her drug and alcohol addiction. Bette throwed a cigarette butt through the opened window, squinting from the bright sun light. She wiped the faint sweat from her forehead with a napkin.

”The heat is fucking unbelievable” She muttered.

”No kidding, girl” The man behind the wheel, Marcus, said, sighing heavily. These last days were rough. Dominic started to put pressure on them really hard. Some big and influential person came to LA, kicking up the fuss. So the situation was being as tense as a cat in a dog pound. Helena and Bette’s constant bickering weren’t making it any easy. The two brunettes have been arguing a lot recently. Both were having different opinions, different ways of making things done. Marcus and Shane were trying to knock some sense into them, telling them that they only make everything worse. They all should be in good terms in order to be united. In this business gangs ought to be united. There is no other way to survive.

Marcus knew that Helena and Bette loved and respected each other. They were being just two bullheaded women, who needed to bite each other’s throats. Surely, Bette was the leader. Shane and Marcus never had problems with it. Helena seemed to agree with it too, but there was no way she would ever be silent. And she always knew better than to provocate Bette simply for entertainment.

Yesterday, after sorting things out with Dominic’s Mexican associate, everyone was irritated and exhausted. The gang decided to relax and have some drinks at Helena’s new bar before visiting Dominic for report. Being still in the SUV, Bette supposed they hide some detailes from Dominic. Helena disagreed. They started arguing about it, then things got personal. Marcus and Shane stopped them before there could have been any physical altercation.

”Marcus, can you pick Shane and Helena up, while I’m at the centre? We have some business to do today” Bette asked her parner, getting out of the car.

”Sure, we’ll be here in an hour” Marcus assured his friend.

”Thanks” Bette closed the door and headed to the centre’s main entrance.
