Leading the march both Bette and Gaia followed by their supporters rode throughout the night until next nightfall. A task unheard of however with the assistance of adrenaline and an undying vow of vengeance they were able to travel a great distance. Locating a secluded area they decided to rest themselves, their horses, and nourish their bodies with food and drink. A fire was lit providing warmth, and with their bodies they formed a circular formation around the fire while five stood watch over the others rotating every four hours. The rotation ensured the safety of everyone and allowed everyone equal opportunity for rest. While the others were able to find a measure of peace while they slept Bette could not. She stirred herself awake as her thoughts ran vividly through her mind. Sitting up she looks around seeing the fire still burning strong and the women surrounding her who pledged their lives for the greater cause. Majority of them young raised on their mothers tales of war, revolts, and unjust causes. Since entering into the world none of them had experience such turmoil. Now, quietly standing to her feet she looks at them all further they were daughters, mothers, aunts, nieces, cousins, some wives, and friends. They were of importance to someone if the light were to be removed from their eyes it would cause great pain to those you loved and cared for them. Here she stood leading them into a battle she reluctantly acknowledged they were not prepared for. Shane had been correct in her response their fate now resting solely in her hands a responsibility she greatly feared. Knowing she would not be able to find sleep she heads towards one the nearby watches to relieve her. As she approached the watch she hears the sound of breaking branches a sign someone or something was near.

“Reveal yourself, “she says unsheathing her sword in a defensive manner.

“It is I.”

“Bette, apologies I assume all were asleep.”

“Yes, all but me I come to relieve you of watch.”

“It is my position amongst the rotation it’s only fair I——–.”

“My head swells with many thoughts sleep not being one of them I thought it only fair to assume watch and let another rest in my place.”
