    Marcus’ Situation

Bette was up early the following morning and decided to workout at the neighborhood gym. She needed the workout but exercising also helped her to clear her head. She had a lot to think about with Peggy’s proposition and now she had no idea what was going on with Marcus. Peggy had said it was a life-changing decision but that could mean just about anything.

When she got back to the loft she told the doorman that she was expecting Tina that evening and he was authorized to let her up. She left a spare key in a secure box for Tina to pick up when she arrived. Once she got back upstairs she checked the guest bedrooms and bathroom to make sure everything was in order. Both bedrooms had fresh linens so Tina could chose whichever one she wanted and there were clean towels and toiletries in the bathroom.

Bette showered and got dressed then spent an hour or so reading and responding to emails. She had emails from Lisa and Alice. They gave her progress reports on their Valerie Simmons assignments. Everything looked great. She approved the printing and website launch then reviewed the invitation list and saw that Helena Peabody was still on it. She hadn’t really expected Helena to attend even if she’d come to Los Angeles but it was just as well. She removed Helena Peabody & Guest from the invites and replaced them with Max Sweeney and Tom Mater.

Bette called James to check in.

“Porter Gallery James speaking. How may I help you?”

    “Hey James. Good morning.”

“Bette good morning. How are you?”

“Doing great. How’s it going with you?”

“Couldn’t be better. Everything is right on schedule. I suppose you received the emails from Lisa and Alice?”

“Yes. I approved everything. I should be back in Los Angeles on Friday. Will the displays and framing be done by then?”

“Yes. Candace is here working on it right now. She’s promised it will be done by Thursday at the latest. The framed artwork has already been delivered. We can work on staging everything this weekend and early next week.”

“That’s terrific James. I can’t believe we are actually ahead of schedule for a change.”

“I know it feels good. So did Peggy talk to you about her proposition?”

    1. Ok wow..Lots going on in this chapter..Bette adopting Marcus and Francesca’s baby…It looks like that will be a done deal..It’s like Bette and Tina want each other but are just too scared to step out of their comfort zones right now and Kit being supportive of Bette about the baby I think will help sway her to go through with it..Very Very nice chapter!..

    2. I love this twist. Adds some good drama and complexity. But that’s a huge leap for Tina, going from an open relationship to a committed one w/a child. But Bette Porter is worth it! Keep them coming.
