    Chapter 5: Landing a hand will make a new friend (Elizabeth makes a new friend and Tina visits Carmen)

    Place: Orange County, CA

    Year: 1885

    (Previously) Any other time Elizabeth would welcome the rain and enjoy the soothing sounds of the raindrops. But right now she felt like her life was washing away with each drop. It was as if she was gazing at herself from afar, sensing that just a moment ago she was going with the flow of life and the next moment she was standing in the rain, watching her life falling apart.

    Elizabeth gasped for air one more time and was on the verge of collapsing when she heard the unmistakable out-of-tune whistling of ‘For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow’.

    The last thing she remembered was herself, desperately screaming, “Alicia” and then the sound of feet running towards her, someone’s hands pulling Eric away from her and Alicia’s angry voice, “Thanks to my work, I know self-defense.” Right before Eric’s agonizing scream, Elizabeth finally hit the ground and entered the black void.

    ‘I need to get out of this bed,’ Elizabeth thought, now sitting up straight, completely awake and staring at the window where just a minute ago she saw the bird.

    “I can’t allow myself to be miserable anymore, it’s time to face the new day and whatever it will bring,” she continued aloud this time, “but first, I need to talk to Alicia and find out exactly what happened after I fainted. Did he or didn’t he?”

    ~~~~~~~~
    While Elizabeth was getting ready, her mind turned to Alicia…funny, weird, loyal Alicia, who saved her from the horrible ordeal last night. ‘I just hope he didn’t do anything worse than I remember,’ Elizabeth thought, shuddering at the idea of what could have happened if Alicia wasn’t there at the right place and at the right time.
    Alicia appeared in her life unexpectedly. About a month ago, one morning Elizabeth saw an unfamiliar woman cleaning her closet and rearranging the clothes. When Elizabeth asked her what she was doing in there, the young girl began stuttering a little, startled by Elizabeth’s question but finally managed to speak. She was new in the area and that morning she asked the lady of the house if they needed a cleaning help or a maid.
    1. Interested?… Are you kidding? This is an amazing story! Of course, I admit that I can’t wait for Bette and Tina to meet, whatever the dimension.. I seem to remember a certain someone talking about someone else teasing in their story?… LOL! You know what, I think that makes the story that more interesting, so i’m totally in for the ride. I’m so curious about so many aspects of your story. Can’t wait… Thanks and have a great trip to NYC and Philly! And thanks in advance for your reports. Take care, K ;)
