    Reunion

"I’m your research partner," Zack shook his head. "And she was here because she’s interested too. Why can’t women be more like men and just ask each other if they want to fuck?"

"So I should have said ‘this is my gay work husband in whom I confide all’?" Tina suggested.

"Would have been less likely to result in her making the quick get away," Zack said derisively. He shrugged. "Oh well, you know what you have to do."

"You’re going to make me call her, aren’t you?"

"She said she’d give you a tour; take her up on the offer!"

"Okay," Tina said. "At least I can just leave a message since she won’t be back at her office yet.

She dialed Bette’s office number for the second time that day, once again having been encouraged by a friend who only wanted the best for her.

    Chapter 4

"Wait a minute," Zack reached to hang up her office phone before Tina could finish dialing the last number. "You need to think of what you’re going to say first. And I’m going to help."

"I don’t need help," Tina said.

"Oh, because you’re replete with offers from so many women since coming to the realization that you’re gay," Zack said.

"When you’re trying to qualify for tenure, there’s not a lot of time to date anyone!" Tina argued.

"Undergrad, Master’s, Doctorate, Post Doc, publish or perish…" Zack recited. "Nothing I haven’t heard before from lesser mortals who still managed to have a life outside of academia."

"I was 34 before I even had a faculty position," Tina said. "I’m finally to a point where I might get tenure and it largely depends on what publications come out of this year."

"Tina. I love you like you’re my own sister," Zack looked her in the eye. "You need to bring some of the confidence you display as the lead investigator on a multi million dollar study and apply it to your personal life."

"I’m out of my element," Tina sighed. "I stare at a computer screen all day. I don’t interact with real live people enough, and I can’t make small talk."

    1. I loved this! The banter between the characters flowed well and was totally believable. And you managed to make Tina’s social awkwardness sweet and humorous instead of just painful. I’m really enjoying how you’re developing this each post. Thanks for hanging in there with this one Swimmie!

    2. “You’re not the first filly that cowgirl has ever broke.” hahahahah!!!!!! I love it!!!! Literally laughed out loud…

You are truly gifted and I hope you come back to writing soon. Amazing stuff. THank you for the years of time and effort. Perfection, really.
