Within a few years Bette Porter became a powerhouse in the art world. Her West Hollywood art gallery boasted a reputation as ‘the place’ for emerging artists to get their start. She was known as one of the top art consultants in the business and it didn’t hurt that her exclusive client list included Peggy Peabody, the heiress to the Peabody Corporation multi-billion dollar conglomerate and several others of her caliber. Bette was on the board of directors for the California Arts Center (CAC), and she was good friends with Phyllis Kroll the Chancellor and Leigh Ostin the Dean of the School of Arts at California University (CU). Her collegiate friends were a great resource for her recruitment efforts. Every year Bette employed students majoring in the arts to do summer internships at her gallery or to staff the fine arts summer programs offered at the Big Bear Lake Camp for the Arts (BBLC for the Arts) which was a Porter-Peabody joint business venture.

    ***

BBLC for the Arts was located approximately two hour’s drive from Los Angeles on 250 acres of beautifully landscaped lakefront property. Bette and Peggy each owned a three bedroom cabin and several guest cottages that could only be accessed from a private road separate from the public areas of the year round camp. Bette spent several weeks during the summer months working with the kids that enrolled in the fine arts program. She escorted small groups to cultural events in the surrounding area including plays, art festivals, museum visits and the like to expose their young minds to different facets of the arts and culture. The camp was fully self-sufficient and staffed to offer theatre, dancing, acting, music and literary programs along with the usual sports, swimming, fishing, boating, horseback riding, hiking and many other activities. BBLC for the Arts offered a wonderfully unique and enriching experience for children and young adults who had an interest in pursuing careers in literature, music, performing and or fine arts. Bette also volunteered at the West Hollywood Youth and Family Center where she founded and funded a children’s arts program to foster young people’s interest in the arts. She gave annual scholarships to allow less privileged families and youths to enroll in the programs offered by BBLC for the Arts.

    1. Oh, hell no! I hope Jodi pays for this. I also have a feeling Mark filmed the entire ordeal.
My God, how horrific for Bette, for anyone. Perhaps a sweet, honey eyed blonde will help her heal and teach her to trust again.

    2. Jodi is bat-shit crazy and evil to boot. I disliked her in the show b/c Bette subordinated her own personality for Jodi. Jodi wasn’t close to Tina in every way possible. Epic fail in every way. Please post soon.

      • Oh My Goodness, the bitch is absolutely crazy and seemingly a supreme PSYCHO. Can’t believe Bette drank the wine, she knew better than that Bette should never have told Alice where she was recuperating, Alice talks too damned much and has no filter. .

      • Agreed, very naive and stupid choices. I also had a very hard time imaginening Jodi this deluded. Not a huge fan of hers in the show but still kind of far fetched for me to imagine her this way.

I feel really sorry for the Bette in this story:(

    3. It was an interesting turn of events. I totally agree with the others: Bette was really naive, which is so unlike her character.
Well, Jodie; I’ve always hated her character, no matter what she did. to me, she was just totally obnoxious.
Bette had to listen to her instincts, in connection with these two!
I hope Bette makes a complaint to the police, and Jodie will rot in jail. :)
I look forward to the next chapter.

    4. Our Bat was awful what happened to Bette, I was
eyes full of tears, because rape is a crime
terrible that a woman can spend not only your body that suffers
violation, but also your soul, you need support
love and affection to give to that person who suffers a violation
takes too long to get your life back
and a long and painful recovery path, but is difício
not impossible. She must be punished
and so did Bette … force to have sex is a
terrible crime … hate those monsters that totally insane
use violence to subdue the other was unforgivable.
I know very well how painful is my friend
was raped … I followed their struggle for three long years, for
she managed to recover … but always gets sequels …
There has to be justice ….!
