    “…the eternal rocks beneath…” Ch. 34

Bette glanced over at Tina who was watching her intently. She chuckled and merged onto the highway. “Why are you staring at me?” Bette asked.

    “Am I staring?”

    “Yes.”

Tina rubbed Bette’s thigh. “I just can’t get over how beautiful you are. In fact, I think you’ve only gotten more so as you’ve aged.”

“You look pretty good yourself,” Bette said.

Tina reached up and twisted one of Bette’s brown curls around her finger. “I love your hair. I could run my fingers through it all day.”

Bette sighed. Tina’s touch was working on her, slowly breaching the walls she had erected. She was determined not to allow her desire to cloud her judgment as it had done on the yacht the day before. But Tina was a formidable foe. That morning before they had gone to the market to pick up a few supplies for supper that afternoon, Tina had lured Bette up to her bedroom in Helena’s beach house under the pretense of showing her the dress she was thinking of wearing for the museum’s opening next month.

But there had been no new dress. Instead Tina had pushed Bette against the closed bedroom door and kissed her and continued to kiss her as her hands had grazed the curve of Bette’s breasts and her hips pressed into her.

“I’ve done nothing but think about you and how you touched me last night,” Tina had whispered into Bette’s ear. “Tell me you can’t keep me out of you mind.”

Bette had tried to resist, but it was difficult. “Of course I can’t stop thinking about you,” Bette had whimpered and the vulnerability in her voice fired up Tina who pulled Bette down on her rarely used bed. In moments Tina had climbed on top of Bette and was attacking her neck with kisses and gentle bites.

“Tina, please,” Bette had begged. “We can’t.”

    “We can.”

“Not in Helena’s house,” Bette had said.

Tina had groaned, rolled off. “Fine. Then tonight we get a hotel.” She had looked at Bette, hopeful with expectations.

But Bette had shaken her head. “I’ve told you I’m not ready. Please understand. I need you to understand.”

But Tina hadn’t understood, still didn’t understand as they drove toward David’s and Maya’s house.

    1. Good luck and all the best in your exams….
This chapter went very well, I have no doubt the happy ending is somewhere close even feeling very very anxious as you’d mentioned…. and thank you !!

    2. Oh Crap! Ominous wording! You did however promise a happy ending, remember?!

“I can’t imagine anything keeping me from you now. I think we’re ready to move forward.” She smiled at the love she saw in Tina’s eyes. “Together,” she added.

      “Together,” Tina echoed.

    3. Glad that Tina understood Bette’s need to abstain and had her realization regarding trust. They are both growing in the relationship. Love the banter and teasing. I’m a little anxious about this bomb business and look forward to your next update.

    4. Well, Tina and Bette are acting differently this time around, and they’re at least trying to be careful and taking things a bit more slowly, even if Kit can’t see it past her disapproval. The restraint is something they wouldn’t have had last time around, and if Kit can’t see that they don’t want their relationship to burn out, that’s on her. She’ll come around, I’m sure.

Jodi seems to have moved on fairly seamlessly (and quickly!)… but I guess she saw it coming from the minute that Bette first told her about Tina after they first got to L.A. At least, like Bette said, it’s with her past lover and not one of the virus-spreading, cross-pollinating bees. ;P

And this bomb… I hope Matthew does the right thing and alerts someone, or someone realises what’s happening before it’s too late… but Baye Fuckley (shoutout to redhorse!) is an evil bitch, and I don’t think that will happen, so I’m dreading how this is going to go down.

Hope the exam grading isn’t too horrid and we’ll be waiting on that next post. Thanks, BenMac!

    5. Awesome and glad Bette and Tina are together, and working thing out. Hope someone will let Bette and Helena know before Buckley hurt them. Please post more, thanks

    6. I was so lost in to this great chapter to read that I did not realize the end, and I was looking for where the “next post” :)
      I really liked this chapter.
It was really good to read that they finally understood that both need to strengthen themselves and thus make each other stronger.
I liked the constant flirting and teasing between Bette and Tina, the sexual tension was thick. I was really surprised Bette resisted Tina’s temptation for so long. But she was right. they needed to take things slowly, and I ‘m glad that Tina finally understood what it meant Bette. I am glad that she is serious about getting to deal with her temper, and that doesn’t show a bad example for little Frankie .
The scene where Frankie got them in the kitchen was funny .
I am glad that Jodie and Tina friends remained much reported both.
Kit’s reaction confused me. I understand that she doesn’t want to they hurt each other, but she strongly oppose this relationship. I think, Kit doesn’t think they are good for each other and I don’t think that she can see how deep the love between Bette and Tina. It is good that they aren’t interested Kit approval. I hope Melvin talk to Kit .
Bette was really romantic, as she told Tina to get ready .
I hope is nothing wrong in the opening ceremony. can’t die, so many innocent people. such fanatical thinking can’t win!
I can’t wait to the next chapter

    7. Another great chapter! But for the love of Bette and Tina don’t pull of a Game Of Thrones and kill them off! Eat plenty of chocolate and stay happy studying for you exam and pls write a “happy” next chapter. I find myself invested in your characters and truly hope that they don’t blow up in smokes. On a different note I’m so glad that Bette and Tina are moving on towards a healthy relationship together….let the getaway happen!!!

    8. Wow what a chapter im loving the pace between bette and tina and the flirting is just great but the end you’ve got me worried for are girls please lets not be killing anyone off you did promise a happy ending so please have a great week and I hope you do well with youre exams pps.

    9. According to this Chapter, Frankie is not allowed to attend the party, so thank God she is not suppose to die, so for me, unfortunately that means if there is a need a box of kleenex, then it will have to be something happening to Bette or Tina. I will be waiting for the next chapter and Larry the Security Guard needs to find another line of work. My heart is all a twitter with anticipation. You are awesome writer as always.

    10. Faye Buckley is the epitome of the evil that can be done in the God’s name. Maybe her henchmen will develop a conscience and signal that the bomb is in place to avoid the slaughter of the innocents at the opening. Tina noticed the detonator when she was in the kitchen so maybe the security forces for the politicians will discover it during their security sweeps. May the love of Bette and Tina keep them safe and protect them for all hurt, harm and danger. Their destiny seems to be coming fulfilled. Jodi is wise and good. She has kept her friendship with both Tina and Bette without drama. Bravo to her. Frankie is such a great little girl. I think Tina has found her heir apparent. Please accept my gratitude for the time and spirit you contribute with this story. Thank you for posting.

      • Yes, security sweep! Great catch Majic! Ok, BenMac, you have to keep the storyline true to life. They’d definitely do a security sweep of the premises when important politicians will be in attendance.

    11. I am so happy that Bette and Tina are back together. Love the flirty banter and the old fashioned dating. I am biting my nails worrying about what is going to happen. Please don’t hurt the girls, I really want them to go to their beach holiday.

    12. That Faye Buckley got something up her sleeves and im hesitant to find out if this fucking bomb will go off, but I promise you if bette or Tina die, get hurt, or even break a nail, im going to LA personally to beat the living shit out of Faye myself…….ok maybe I should realize this is a story lol…see BenMac what you done to me or should I say us? You turn us to crazy people sitting waiting for the next chapter…oh and I say it again how adorable is Frankie ahh gotta love that kid!!

    13. Thanks for the update. I’m glad Bette and Tina seem to be on the same page now. It doesn’t sound like their vacation plans are going to succeed. Not with Buckley’s plan for Saturday night. I’m hoping someone stops her before so many people get injured or killed. She is evil personified. She needs to die.

    14. Another great chapter. I like to see that both Bette and Tina are really trying to change not only for each other, but for themselves. I”m glad they are “putting in the work” and only hope it pays off in the end. I’m really worried though about Faye Buckley. Please don’t let anything happen to either of them or for that matter Melvin, Kit, David, Maya, Helena or Peggy. Have I forgotten anyone? I hope not. Really the only person I wouldn’t miss is Kelly, but even she doesn’t deserve to “burn” up. Please keep them safe somehow. I’ll be hanging on until the next chapter. Hope its sooner rather then later. :)

    15. Man I’m not sure what to say 1st. Happy Bette & Tina are going to the next level. I hope Faye’s plans don’t postpone that. I hope someone in that limo has a change of heart & warns someone. No matter how many pages you give us it’s not enough. The whole Jodi and Bette situation could have gone another way. I am glad you had it work out for everyone. Break ups don’t have to be ugly. Thank you for posting. Love this story.

    16. Anxious is the state I was in before, now I’m just VERY anxious! It does bother me a little that Bette and Tina are together now because Jodi chose to break up, not Bette. Bette’s initial decison was, after all, to stay with her. When I finished the last chapter, I was a bit disappointed by her selfishness. She still had unresolved feelings towards Jodi, did not choose to leave her and, even though she was still sleeping with Jodi, she was glad to know Tina didn’t have sex for months (and didn’t let anyone else penetrate her). Would they be together now if Jodi hadn’t decided to sleep apart? I was just wondering. Bette was always honest about her feelings for Tina, but she never seemed to resolve the love she still felt for Jodi. This chapter showed more her seriousness regarding her relationship with Tina, though. I was really glad to see it! Reeeally looking forward to the next chapters. I completely love this story, thank you, BenMac!

    17. I knew the drama was coming. Bomb in the kitchen. I guess this is the incident where we find out who dies. Don’t let it be Jodi please. Bette has now realized it is Tina she wants to be with and has left Jodi mentally and emotionally. Yes I know she still felt some jealousy, but she knows she doesn’t want to go back to Jodi and with time that will go away. I think it’s important that both Bette and Jodi survive in order to reinforce the choice they made and so their ending is not contrived. I love this story BenMac and as usual it is beautifully written.
