    She will be loved

    Yale – 1996

A couple of months had gone by in a blink and even though Bette and Alice were actually dating, it still did not feel like it at all, at least for the brunette.

Bette was pretty sure she indeed loved Alice, and yet she had come to realize that she wasn’t in love with Alice.

Bette was absolutely positive that she always had a wonderful time whenever she was around the cute and perky blonde, but for some still unknown reason, she didn’t feel anxious before meeting Alice, nor she ever experienced that shortness of breath when she laid her eyes on her supposed girlfriend.

And still, why was it that she felt like that at times? But most importantly, why did those things always happen to her whenever she was in the presence of another certain cute blonde? The sweaty palms, the erratic breathing pattern whenever she sank into those hazel eyes or how her stomach sometimes made a number on her whenever she would hear that sweet laughter.

Even so Bette was just too damn proud to admit it to herself, or to anyone else for that matter. The brunette didn’t know exactly what to expect out of a relationship, for she had never been in one, yet she did know that whatever she had been having with Alice was not what she hoped she would, or should, find in a relationship.

”Bette” Tina calmly called her friend.

”Mmm yeah?” Bette replied still with that little and soft wrinkle that formed between her eyes whenever she was lost in her own thoughts.

”Have you heard anything of what I’ve just said to you?” Tina asked, concerned since she hadn’t seen her friend so lost inside her head in the last couple of months.

Bette looked half guilty and half surprised that her friend would even notice something was up.

”What’s wrong?” Tina asked again, but in a sweeter tone of voice.

”Oh… nothing… really” The brunette tried to do her best in order to avoid the subject that was harassing her.

”Bette… come on… it’s me here… you know you can talk to me, right?” Tina quickly added, making full eye contact.

    1. Well, for me always ever thinking about that Bette and Alice from TLW were in relationship seems very strange. How?:)
Yeah, in your story they both complete different people, but still a big NO.

      • Boy do I agree with you!!! Alice blew up a really strong friendship by pressuring Dana to be her lover.

And before Dana, I felt like her big conquest was to show everybody that she could be with “the” unattainable lithario Bette Porter. Alice loved being a “kiss & tell” partner while we KNOW Bette hated that!!

    2. So young Bette and Tina are opening up a bit more to one another. Both with emerging feelings but too afraid to even think about what that means. Baby steps. Bette is better off being friends with Alice. If Alice will accept that. Enjoying this story.

    3. As Bette and Tina mature both individually and through friendship, each are learning trust and how to put words to their feelings. Hopefully, as they mature further, they can act on their feelings about each other. Life is like a lemon drop. You have to suck on the bitter to get to the sweet.

Great job. This story makes me anxious.

    4. I’m glad that Bette sees Alice as a friend and that her relationship with Alice is not what she wants in a relationship. But she really does need to get Tina into a conversation in which she can discuss her feelings for her. They need to get away from the dorm life for a few hours and just enjoy each other’s company and begin a conversation. They have had the perfect introductory conversation for such with Tina breaking up with Brian and Bette’s confession that Alice is a good friend and not relationship material. They need to be together in a place where they won’t be interrupted by friends stopping by to say hello. I don’t know what the weather is, but if appropriate a picnic or go to a restaurant in town away from campus for a long lunch. But Bette needs to end the relationship with Alice first… She’s already on that path – just do it Bette.

I like this story….. please post as soon as you can.

    5. I hope that Bette won’t fu** up the chance that Tina gives them both by finally admitting her feeling. Come on Bette, say it! After all those years time to tell the truth, tell her that you love her. Julia doesn’t seem like a nice person anyway.

I like the combination of back flashes and scences from the present. Please post more soon!
