Thursdays – (Chapter: Tears and Apologies)

After noticing the intense flare of anger in Spencer’s eyes and the surging tension between the trio before her, Ashley thought it’d be best to excuse herself. She quickly slipped out the front door and headed out for the rest of her day, escaping the madness that would soon occur.

Meanwhile, Spencer remained in her same spot, immovable and glued to the floor. Her mind couldn’t process the sight that had just walked in. In no way, did she wish to speak to either person at the moment. Finally, in a random burst of anger, Spencer was able to pick up her feet and storm over to the older woman.

“Mom! What the hell is he doing here?”

“Spencer, there is no need for a such a tone. And your language! Didn’t I raise you better than that?”

Spencer was furious. She couldn’t believe that in all that ramble, her mother had still managed to completely avoid the question. In no less a hard tone, the blonde continued to interrogate the woman.

    “Answer the question.”

“Oh, come on honey, tell me you’re not happy to see him.”

Spencer just stared at her coldly. Her mother’s calm demeanor and steady voice made her want to slap the woman in the face. Maybe that wasn’t such a bad idea… No! For now she would just stand here and try to be reasonable. However, Spencer’s patience was wearing thin, and she continued to stare her mother down until a reply was given.

“Ok fine. I ran into him at church last Sunday. He said he was back in town for a couple of weeks and so I asked him if he would like to join us for lunch.”

“Hi Spence.” Oh, so he could speak. Great. Spencer thought that she preferred it when he was mute. She was so not in the mood for this.

Spencer just glared at the man for a few moments before finally speaking up. “Shut up Aaron. Can you give us a sec?”

Grabbing her mother by the arm, Spencer dragged the two of them into another room.

“Ugh. What is your problem Spencer? I would expect you to have more manners than that!”
