    Chapter 4

The following Friday, Bette is in her office at the gallery and answers her cell.

(Tina) Hey, is it a bad time?

    (Bette smiles) No, you’re fine

(Tina) I’m sorry to call while you’re at work, I have a hectic day and then a work function tonight so I just wanted to try and catch you while I could

(Bette smiles) It’s fine, I think I’m due a work disruption from you

(Tina laughs) Yeah this doesn’t cancel that out

    Bette smiles.

(Bette) It’s good to hear from you, what’s going on?

(Tina) Do you have plans tomorrow night?

Bette raises her eyebrows and smiles.

    (Bette) Ah, not really, why?

(Tina) I have tickets to this queer outdoor music series that’s on each weekend through the summer. I’ve been meaning to go since I moved here and Helena was supposed to come but she can’t make it. I’m not sure if that’s at all your thing but I thought I’d check if you might be interested in coming?

    (Bette) What happened with Helena?

(Tina smiles) Oh nothing, I knew it wasn’t for her when I booked it. We have a long history of me trying to get her to come to things and her weaseling her way out of it. I know when I book there’s a 50/50 chance I’ll be going on my own. She doesn’t even bother coming up with excuses anymore

    Bette smiles.

(Tina) But anyway, I have a spare ticket. I’m happy going on my own but I just thought If you’re not doing anything, maybe you’d like to join me?

(Bette) Sure, I’m not doing anything. I’ll join you, it sounds good

    (Tina smiles) Great

That evening, the Planet. Bette, Alice, Shane and Dana are having a drink.

(Shane) Oh hey, I got your text about cancelling dinner tomorrow night?

(Bette) Yes, something came up. I’ve cancelled the reservation, sorry it’s so last minute

    (Shane smiles) No drama

(Alice) Yeah, we only go to these fancy places because you make us anyway

Bette gives her a look and Alice smiles back at her.

(Dana) Is everything OK? You were so excited to go

(Alice) Yeah, seriously, how long ago did you make the booking? You’ve made someone on the wait list very happy

    1. This non-dating thing is unique… no assumptions, no obligations, just in the moment. Yet we the readers can see that they are growing rather fond of each other. Would love to read more…

      Thanks for the chapter…

    2. There’s sooo much these two have in common. They’re both alphas that have been use to having their way. But the problem is . . . They’re now attracted to each other!! Both of them interested . . .
