Nowheresville – (Chapter: Homecoming Dates And Roller Skates: Chapter 17)
Spencer’s POV
As soon as I saw her at lunch I knew I wasn’t over her. I spent the whole summer away from her. Then I see her with Aiden. They’re hanging out all the time now! They don’t even have any classes together! I have to admitt, I’m jealous. When I saw them togerther I was so pissed. Katie and Emily even notcied. They know I’m gay but they don’t know about Ashley. Katie askd me if it was about Stacey. She’s my ex-girlfriend. She broke up with me. Said something about me being ‘distant and unemotional’. I didn’t care though it was just a summer fling, something to keep my mind off Ashley. I don’t blame her (Stacey). She wanted to go all the way but I wouldn’t let her take it that far. Something inside me is waiting for Ashley. I miss her so much but it’s too hard for me to be around her knowing I can’t have her. I have to trust that she’ll come to me when she’s ready.
Ashley’s POV
I’m in my room trying not to throw my Geometry HW out the window. I hear the phone ring but I don’t go to answer it. I never answer the phone. It makes me seem perpetually busy.
"Ashley, honey, answer the phone it’s Aiden!" my mom yells excitedly from downstairs. Why’s Aiden calling? I just saw him at school.
"Talk to me"
"Ash, it’s Aiden." DUH!
"I know. My mom told me."
"What are you doing Friday?"
"I don’t know. It’s Monday. Why?"
"Well, I was wondering if maybe you wanted to go to the dance with me?"
"What dance?" I didn’t know there was a dance.
"The homecoming dance."
"Oh! Like as friends?"
"No. I want you to go as my date. Please?"
"I don’t know Aid. I don’t really do dances. They’re not my scene."
"Please! I can’t go stag."
"Why don’t you ask that Madison chick from your Geography class?" Oh man, he really wants me to go with him.
"I don’t wanna go with Madison. Please! I want to go with you."
"But I don’t want everything to chance between us."
"Maybe it will change for the better."
"Ok. I’ll go with you."
"YES!… I mean kool. One more thing, do you want to go skating on Wednesday? It’s gonna be me, Mads, the guys, some other people from school. We go every week."
