Look On The Brightside: Small World

Its a small world after all

Its a small world after all

    Its a small, small world..

“Damn right.” Bette Porter muttered under her breath, throwing a mini-temper tantrum and fuming on her seat. She furrowed her brows and narrowed her eyes at the unruly mop of chocolate brown hair sitting in front of her, setting each wavy strand on fire with the laser beams blazing from her orbs. In all respects, the man should be bald by now – with burn patches on his scalp and black marks on his skin. Luckily for him, whatever damage she was inflicting was imaginary – well, at least so far.

“Behave yourself.” Tina Kennard whispered to her partner, shooting the brunette a warning glance. Bette pouted petulantly and crossed her arms in response, not wanting to let go of her annoyance just yet.

Sitting between the two adults, a highly energized six-year old sang at the top of her lungs, her head excitedly darting left and right, trying to take in as much of the singing dolls around their boat. No matter how many times she’s been on this ride, her impressionable young eyes always found something new to discover and marvel at. There were new sights and colors to take in, a doll or two she hadn’t noticed before, cute details she never paid attention to and even brand new costumes on some of her favorites. “..small, small woooorrrlllllllldddddd!!!” Angelica Porter-Kennard happily screeched, swaying her body side to side, palms meeting every once in a while with a clap. Next to the twirling teacups, this was definitely one of her most beloved rides in Disneyland.

“..look at the cool shell necklace wrapped around the Hawaiian doll’s neck..” The man in front of the family excitedly pointed out to his less enthused nine year old son; who obviously preferred the cool Pirates of the Caribbean ride instead of this lame kiddie one.

Bette scoffed and rolled her eyes, overhearing the father’s gushing. “I want to wrap my hands around your neck, let’s see how cool that’d be..” She grumbled, prompting Tina to give her another look. Ah fate, how you like to toy and play cruel jokes on me, she groaned inwardly. She stared at all the water outside the boat and let out a sigh. Out of all the times and places they could have accidentally crossed paths, destiny chose to let it happen right now; when she was stuck inside a cramped boat.. surrounded by electronic dolls singing the same irritating song over and over again.. with absolutely no escape in sight. Well, not for another seven to ten minutes at least.

    1. You just reminded me of when I took my nephew to Magic Mountain and spending a small fortune on winning him a prize. “”My Mama B’s so great, she didn’t have to shoot the balls inside the basket to win them.” That was a great, I was roflmao. Nice one off, it’s a good distraction maybe they will give you inspirations for JTG2.0 if you start to get blocked. I believe you went through the same thing with JTG towards the end. Or was it cause you were studying a lot and pressed for time? Thanks for the post Alch.

    2. I adore your snarky, ironic sense of humor, Alchy. So freakin’ funny! You may want to post a “Guffaw Warning” so that you’re not laughing like a loon at work or spewing liquid out your nose if you make the mistake of drinking while reading!!

    3. OMG Alchy! This story was purely, a simple…Sugar Rush!!! How sweet and fun was this peice of fluff (as u call it!). Competetive Bette…don’t mess with that gal. LOL! Love your humor!!!!! (And extra points for cute-Angie!)
