New Pasadena, 8:00 am. Tuesday, May 16, 2056. – New CalTech- Biochemistry building – Louise Rossi’s office
Louise has been testing and analyzing different blood level of hormones in combination with irradiation of artificial magnetic fields the study has been done both in a holographic simulation system and in her own body. She has already seen and feel the changes that produce the effect of new proteins in herself and with that, the achievement of new skills; she has found the appropriate combination to promote the acquisition of different mutated abilities, and what is left is to find the way of naturally produce those exotic combinations in the rest of the people, because she already has them since two weeks ago.
Flashback two weeks ago – 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2056 – Rossi-Kennard-Fairbanks’ house
It is passed midnight and Louise can’t sleep, she is spinning and jumping in the bed for more than an hour until Sharon wakes up.
Sharon: “what’s wrong sweetie?”
Louise: “I’m sorry baby; I can’t sleep, I better to go to my office”
Sharon: “why…? it is midnight.”
Louise: “I have to check some files; there is something that is taking my sleep away”
In her house office, Louise went to her htab to check for some files that Tina extracted from the old internet the folder has the title ‘ancient rituals of native cultures’, reading again how those people could find peace in meditation, cleaning their minds and getting themselves in harmony with nature, removing all the bad feelings from their hearts and focus themselves on their objectives, and she wants that, but first she needs, to be honest with herself, she needs to face the truth, to forgive herself, to left all the guilt to go away, as Melvin Porter told her.
The scientist opened a security box in the wall behind a big picture of Kristen, Tina and herself from 10 years ago; she extracted a metallic box, and set it on the top of her desk, she sat on her chair and used a key code from her hcube to open it, inside there were some chips and old pictures, she chose one without holographic projection, she saw it, two adults and three children, her father, mother, sister, and brother; she remember vividly that day, her brother Peter (Pedro) and her sister Carla had to go back to UC San Francisco, and all the family had planned to go there, but Louise had won her school science fair on Friday and she must present her work on Monday at the Community Center along with the winners of the other schools in Modesto’s county, so her parents decide that she and her mom should stay and her daddy could drive her siblings to San Francisco. A tear is running on Louise’s cheek, if she had not won the championship her entire family had been united at the time of the earthquake all would have died and her mother had not suffered so much humiliation, pain, and sadness later before dying; Louise felt always responsible for how her mother died, for how she couldn’t stop the rest of her family to travel that day, so they could still be alive and together.

And Melvin a asexual man, in this case you can’t speak; like father and daughter. Bette is contrary to her father, a very sexual woman.

Yes, I better would say respect Bette like mother like daughter; she inherited all her sexual drive, protectiveness, and intelligence from Maxine; her shyness, her ability to ‘change’ and being different from Melvin. Louise has to address and fix her relationship with Tina for the first and last time, otherwise, they would drive apart. Thanks so much for reading and commenting, I hope to update soon.

You may be right, about emotions and feelings but I was talking about emotions = feelings + sensations, indeed I was referring to the fact that hormones are mysterious sets of chemicals that could be released sometimes for effect of emotions or feelings or sensations, for example, if you are afraid of something, your body starts releasing hormones, if you are happy, your body releases other types of hormones, sometimes strong emotions force you to release many different hormones and in very different quantities; the role of hormones is to generate responses to face the danger, pleasure or whatever situation you are living. Now, the production of hormones is linked to the activity of enzymes that are certain type of proteins that acts as factories of hormones, and if the last ones are not enough, the ‘stress’ of the situation (emotion, feeling or sensation), forces the productions of more enzymes or through alternative mechanisms, producing same or different proteins to supply the adequate amount of hormones. The production of proteins is codified in DNA, and it is the RNA the one in charge to execute the ‘order’ coming from the DNA. It is known that we have ‘parts’ in our DNA that have not codification (or it is unknown) for genes, what I am assuming here (and that is part of the fantasy) is that those unknown regions in our DNA, have genes that usually don’t express (they don’t form proteins, or don’t have apparent function), they have existed since a long time ago as ‘mutations’ (indeed hidden mutations); I also assume that all our ‘inner demons’ are blocking emotions, feelings, and sensations, then they are blocking the production of certain hormones and then blocking any alternative mechanism of production of enzymes, so the hidden genes are repressed. So, this is why Louise has to ‘release’, to face her demons (to free her tormented soul) to be able to activate those hidden genes and then after exposing herself to the magnetic fields, she could achieve the ‘change’. About to tell Tina and Bette the truth, this is something Louise has been thinking since chapter 1, she wanted the two girls to be friends in order to slowly talk to them about their mothers, but things didn’t happen as she expected, the two girls, instead, fell in love. Louise has to fix things with Tina, and also with Bette.
