“Delia is stubborn as hell. She’ll fight you tooth and nail. She always has been like that… I don’t know what I would have done if-,”
“Baby girl don’t think that way,” Kit interrupted the blonde. “She’s okay.”
“Yeah… It is just hard.” Noticing that they were pulling up to the airport, “there is still so much I want to tell and explain to you, but I really have to go.”
“I know,” Bette said putting the car in park and looking into the mysterious hazel eyes. She knows that Tina will tell her what she wants to know, but they just don’t have time right now.
“I’ll call you when I land,” Tina replied, “and I’m so sorry-.”
“I know, Tee- I’m confused and hurt that you didn’t tell me. I feel like I don’t really know you but at the same time, I do. Confusing, huh?” the brunette let out a small smile.
“Very- but I know what you mean…” the blonde kissed the brunette and opened up the passenger side door to get out of the car.
Bette, not wanting to really let Tina leave, follows her. “Where are you staying?”
“My old partner is letting me use his guest bedroom.”
Bette, not liking the concept of Tina staying at a man’s house that she doesn’t know, goes up behind her.
Tina, sensing the tension, turns around to face her. “Bette, remember what I said in the car? My relationship with these people is very confusing to the outside world.” Biting her lip and knowing that there is only one way for Bette to truly try and grasp the situation, she says, “is there anyway you can take a few days off of work?”
Bette, shocked by the question, “Umm… I’ll have to talk to Kelly but we don’t have another opening for 2 months.”
“You think that you and Angie could come out? I want you to meet them.”
“You want us to-“
“Meet them, yes.” Tina replied, interrupting the brunette. “I think you deserve to know them…and I guess to really know me.”
“I’m sure Bette can squeeze in a week or two to come out there and meet your…family.” Kit replied from over Bette’s shoulder. “And actually, if you don’t mind, I’d like to come out there too. I always loved D.C.”
“Yeah, sure- absolutely.” Tina replied with a soft smile. Looking back to Bette then checking the time on her phone, “I really have to get going…”
Tina reached up and kissed Bette softly on the lips, she turned around to grab her suitcase. Turning back around, she gave a small wave to Kit and looked back at Bette with an apologizing smile. “We’ll talk more once you’re in D.C…if you are able to come out.”
Bette stood there slightly numb and still confused, but slowly understanding…kind of, she turned back around to look at Kit.
Kit shrugged her shoulders lightly and headed towards the passenger seat of the Lexus. “I always knew there was a little bit of a badass in that woman,” the older Porter winked.
Bette, letting out a small laugh, but still confused, shocked, and slightly hurt, “yeah, I guess so…”
