“I’ve found peace here. I love being here but I’ve been lonely. I’ve missed having someone in my life, I’ve missed having a partner. I’ve missed having friends to entertain, but I’ve never felt as at peace as I do here.”
“I would move the earth for you,” Bette whispered.
“you can’t.” Tina grinned.
“I’m the President I can do whatever I want.”
Tina laughed. Bette got up and sat on the coffee table in front of Tina and reached out her hand, gently taking Tina’s which now had her ring on it.
Tina looked at Bette’s hands in hers.
“Tina, listen to me, I have no ties to LA, yes I have friends there, but since I become President its hard to be there. I’ve never loved anyone the way I love you. I know I fucked up and I don’t deserve this amazing second chance, I know that. But my God Tina, please…” Bette reached out and touched Tina’s cheek, her fingers grazing the skin. She watched as Tina’s eyes slowly closed. Tina took a deep breath, the night before they had slept in the same bed but they nothing had happened, Bette had treated her well, and she hadn’t flinched at some of the scars on her body.
Bette got up and got on her knees in front of Tina, taking her hands. Tina opened her eyes and looked down at her. She was shocked to see Bette there.
“I’ve made the President kneel before me,” Tina said with a slight smile.
“Only person I would ever want to kneel before.” Bette whispered. “Is the woman that I will marry,”
“I love you, my feeling for you have for you have never changed.” Tina gently ran her fingers through Bette’s mass of curly hair,
“I love you too, it’s always been you,” Bette smiled.
Tina stood up and reached out and took Bette’s hand helping her, they slowly moved through the house, both silent both knowing what was going to happen.
Tina walked up the wooden stair case that went to her bedroom and the master bathroom, opening her bedroom door she took a step inside and took a deep breath. She then walked over to the balcony doors opening them to let the breeze in. she took a moment, looking out onto the grounds. She was suddenly nervous. Yes they had made love in the White house but it had been quick and once. It had been a meeting of bodies that had been needed, now she wanted Bette to make love to her, to hold her. To love her.
