“She here,” Hailie confirmed; her blonde curls bouncing as the young girl nodded. “I wanted to say nighty to you.”
“Awh, sweetheart-,” Tina smiled as she leaned back in her chair. “I love you, boo. I hope you have sweet dreams.”
“Love you, mommy,” Hailie smiled into the phone. “Tell aunties and uncs that I love ‘em too, k?”
“Okay, baby. Try to get some sleep… I’ll call you in the morning, okay?”
“Ok,” Hailie yawned into the speaker. “I talk tomorrow. Love you.”
“I love you, more.”
“Not,” Hailie yawned once more, “possible…” she whispered the last part- her hazel eyes getting heavier.
“Yes, possible…” Tina whispered as well; hearing her daughter’s breathing get deeper.
“Hey, Claire,” Tina replied; her thumb clicking the top of the pen as she scooted her chair back. “Our kids get into some sugar earlier?”
Claire laughed on the other end, “unfortunately… luckily Ryan passed out about an hour ago and little Hailie here is sleeping peacefully, now.”
“Good,” Tina answered, walking up next to Will to look at the board covered in photographs. “I’m not too sure when this case will be finished-.”
“Tee, you know we’ll watch Hailie for as long as you need,” Claire responded, closing the bedroom door behind her. “It’s not a problem- just get the sick son of a bitch before he gets another.”
“Trust me- we’re working on it,” Tina whispered; turning around to see the group of girls still standing in the lobby. “I have to get going; thanks for letting Hailie call.”
“It’s not a problem, Tee. Stay safe!”
“Always,” Tina smiled; shutting the phone as she took a deep breath. Looking up at Will; “so…”
“You saw her,” Will nodded towards the window. “How are you feeling?”
“I haven’t really processed it yet,” Tina honestly answered- connecting her eyes to Will’s deep brown. “I was too focused on trying to make sure Alice wasn’t feeling guilty for leaving Dana’s apartment the night she was abducted.”
Will nodded silently, “yeah- uh; AJ said that because of what happened to Savannah…”
Tina took a deep breath, “it’s not nearly the same,” she smiled sadly, “but I know what it’s like to have someone taken from you… with no warning.”
“It’s almost been a year,” Will softly said; tilting Tina’s head to look up at him.
