“I know,” Tina whispered back; her hand reaching up to play with a necklace around her neck. “It feels like it’s been longer…”
Will smiled sadly, “you doing anything special?”
“I’m going to take Hailie to her grave,” Tina nodded; her forefinger gently rubbing the pendant on her neck. “I want to make sure Hal knows about her- she deserves too.”
“Well uh- when you took the phone; Bette’s eyes almost grew the size of her head when you said “baby” in the speaker,” Will laughed softly- his head lifting up to look towards the window. “I think you caught them all off guard with that.”
“Yeah,” Tina sighed heavily; her body leaning back against the wall.
“You gonna tell them?”
“That I have a daughter?”
Will nodded slowly, “I mean- they don’t deserve an explanation, but I’m sure they want to know what you have been up to since you’ve left.”
Tina hummed, watching the girls interact amongst each other- seeing Bette’s eyes dart towards the door of the conference room. “I’ll tell them—I just don’t know how they’ll take it.”
“You mean Bette?” Will corrected the blonde next to him. “You don’t know how Bette will take it.”
“Yeah,” Tina nodded, “hell- she could have her own kid,” the chief shrugged. “But I have a feeling she doesn’t.”
“You think she ever dealt with the miscarriage?”
Tina let out a deep breath at the question, “I don’t know- I hope so. It’s one of my regrets- not making sure that Bette knew it wasn’t her fault.”
Will sat down in the seat and reached for a file, “you know they aren’t going to leave until they see you again.”
“Yup,” Tina nodded; taking a deep breath before walking towards the door. “Start building a preliminary profile, would ya? Have Benny and Ivy help.”
“Got it,” Will smiled; nodding before reaching for his phone to contact the other two agents.
Tina turned back around as she reached for the door handle. Taking another deep breath, she opened the door slowly- returning into the lobby.
Kit looked over to see the blonde coming out of the room, “look at you- Unit Chief, huh?”
Tina smiled and nodded- reaching forward to return the hug of the older Porter. “Yeah- Rob left for another job with counter terrorism,” she pulled back. “I couldn’t turn down the offer when it was given to me.”
