Bette opened the door and closed it behind her, taking a deep breath, it had been a long day and she was drained. She wanted coming home to silence, but she knew that there wouldn’t be silence. She could hear the soft tones of soft music playing. She could smell cooking. She took her jacket off, kicking off her shoes and putting her bags down on the chair beside the door she walked into the main apartment, she went through the living room and straight into the kitchen and smiled the kitchen table was set for the two of them, with a bottle of flavoured water, she could smell whatever Tina was cooking and it smelt amazing.

Tina looked up and smiled at her woman,

    “Hey, good day?”

“not really but what ever you are cooking smells amazing,”

“We are having chicken and rice, the chicken has been cooked in garlic and other herbs. I’ve also made us mini chocolate cheese cakes each.”

“I thought you were writing?” Bette asked, as she lent on the counter.

Tina walked around and kissed her softly on the lips.

“The book has gone to the editor, I can’t do anything till it comes back.” Tina smiled. “All I do now is plan a new one,”

    “You’re always one book ahead?2

“At this stage yes,” Tina smiled “Would you like a shower before dinner?”

    “Do I have time?”

“I need to cook the rice so about fifteen minutes?”

“That’s enough time,” Bette kissed Tina again. Before slowly walking out of the room.

Bette sat with her feet on the coffee table a book she was reading in her lap, her head was back and her eyes were closed. Beside her Tina was snuggled into her, reading her book. Bette was just enjoying the fact that Tina was this close. That she could smell her shampoo. Bette had her arm gently resting against Tina’s arm. Tina yawned and finally closed her book,
