Tina hurried to pay the taxi driver and get her luggage out of the trunk. She was excited to see Bette after three weeks, but also a little worried. That morning when they had spoken on the phone, when Tina had called to give Bette hers and Marcus’ flight information, Bette had sounded down and distant. She told Tina she was simply tired, but Tina feared something more.
“Wow, this is some house,” Marcus noted as he carried his bags to the door.
“Helena’s got great taste,” Tina said. She let the two of them in through the back door and was greeted when Helena came from down the hall.
“Darling! You’re home. I wasn’t expecting you until late this evening,” Helena said. She hugged Tina and greeted Marcus as well.
“We caught an earlier flight. San Francisco is in good shape and I wanted to get back, to see Bette,” Tina said looking up the stairs. “She here?” She had indeed changed their flight after getting off the phone with Bette earlier that morning. She had paid an extra amount just to get her and Marcus down to LA as soon as she could.
“I wish we would have known,” Helena said. “She took off after talking to you this morning. She told me you wouldn’t be in until after 10pm.”
“Where is she then?” Tina asked. “With Kit?”
“No, dear, she drove down to Escondido. She wanted to meet with the nuns at the monastery for the day.”
“The nuns? Why?” Tina asked disappointed.
Helena shrugged. “Well for one thing she wanted to deliver the check from our foundation to them personally. Other than that, I don’t really know.”
Helena showed Marcus the guest room and Tina went upstairs and unpacked. She texted Bette to let her know she was home early and then waited for a response. Bette called right away.
“Tina, I’m sorry,” she groaned into the phone. “Why didn’t you call me back right away when you decided to change your flight?”
“I wanted to surprise you,” Tina said.
“It’s a nice surprise. Thank you, but I’ve already talked to Sister Nai Nhỏ and she’s expecting me. I need to drop off the check at the very least before I can come back home.”

Sola gratia. Grace and grace alone will help Bette and Tina to find their way to the life that they will share. Forgiveness to their mothers and to themselves. So simple but so hard to do in life. You have taken us on this journey and we have grown in knowledge from it. Looking forward to the next post and a happy ending for these two kinky souls. Poor Lara, looks like she will be hosing down the whole kitchen. Tina cooked all of her favorite dishes.

The deer! At last! Are we voting here? I vote for either the detective thriller or the historical fantasy story. So another two chapters left.. Always a pleasure to read.
What a fantastic way to start my weekend!
This chapter was a quite a bit lighter, in a lot of ways. The only heaviness I’m left with now is the impending separation and the fact that this story is soon ending.
I’m glad Bette and Helena have talked Tina out of doing anything to Faye Buckley. The woman will get her punishment and hopefully they’ll all start to move on. And Helena to the rescue again, reminding Bette about the photo that James took including Miriam’s portrait and her father as well.
I hope the upcoming interaction with The Planet’s DJ is a bit less filled with jealousy than the last encounter with her all those years ago. ;)

I like the image of the deer, and I like how Bette’s ‘guide’, which has been her silent company during the days of her youth, finally spoke and planted a new seed in her. I can already see her willing to change and think positive by how she talks to Tina, trying to share with her what she learned [a lot] in only one day.
The end was priceless!! I’ve always loved their banter… so looking forward to the scene at the Planet, I know it’s going to be great!
I’m sad this story is going to end, but I’m also happy to know their ‘nightmare’ is almost over, they need the peace they have been seeking for years and years, and together it will be even better. And knowing you’re already thinking about new stories comforts me.

But mostly seeing Tina and Bette on a path of healing and forgiveness, and becoming a loving family is this best part of the chapter and whole story to be exact.
Oh yeah am I the only one who is also sad that Tina is leaving for maybe a year, I swear I think im inside the story too lmfao!

I think I have to tell you how grateful I am to you for sharing this great story with us. It was not only captivating until the first word , but helped guide and see some things that showed us a mirror to “look at yourself and tell me what you see ”
this beautiful and heartbreaking story pointed out that everyone’s life is needed self-healing and self- forgiveness. everyone’s life happening painful things that leave their mark on the soul, and if you does not deal with, the wound will too deep and the recovery will be more difficult and takes longer. and should never be forgotten that we are not alone, because there is always love in our lives : whether it be a friend, family or love. Yes, sometimes life throws us, but we need to be able to see the positive, it’s still there :)

BenMac, you are totally unsurpassed! Your flare for sprinkling humour throughout your drama is incredible. It keeps us engaged and entertained with meaningful analogies leaving us wanting more and more. I for one will be sad to see this story end in only 2 more chapters; I will miss it and these characters in particular as I did when I finished To Kill a Mockingbird.
I will love anything you write, but I would be partial to a story set in ancient Gaul. See you next Saturday!

That was fun! It’s all coming full circle although I’m not looking forward to it ending but it has been a joy reading this fanfic. BenMac, you are such a freak:) I just read another story you wrote….and the stuff happening in this story was kids stuff but I have to say this story is the best fanfic story I have ever read. Cudos!
