“You filthy whore! After everything I’ve done for you!”
“No ple-please Can-“
“Fucking lying whore! You bring a MAN into MY house, and FUCK HIM in MY bed?! You’re lucky I let you breathe!”
“Tur-turn it off”
Tina chocks out but Shane stands frozen at the images of her friend being beaten so savagely. Candace’s words mixed with Bette’s screams, cries, and pleas continue to fill the room.
“TURN IT OFF!!!”
Tina screams as she picks up a candle off the coffee table before hurling it at the TV, blacking out the screen on impact. The scene snaps Shane out of her head and back into reality. As she regains control, Tina begins to lose her own. She begins tossing everything in the room, smashing everything in sight. Shane grabs her from behind to stop her, but Tina continues to thrash against her.
“It’s okay Tina, it’s okay.”
“NO! How-how dare she-she… oh Bette…”
Sobs overtake her athletic frame as she crumbles to the ground in Shane’s arms. Shane allows her to cry until she calms. Tina pulls back and looks seriously at Shane.
“I want to kill her Shane… I want her dead.”
“I know Tina… I do too… Bette must be our focus though. We’ll deal with Candace, but we need to find Bette first.”
Tina takes a deep breath to calm herself. She closes her eyes and pictures her sweet and tender Bette, the image giving her strength to pick herself up and continue the search.
“You’re right Shane, you’re right. Let’s go find our girl.”
Shane helps Tina up off the floor. Looking around Tina blushes.
“I’ll clean this up later. We don’t have any more time to waste.”
Shane chuckles as they walk back to bedroom to finish looking through the safe.
“Don’t worry about it Tina. Bette will be happy you felt comfortable enough to redecorate.”
Both women laugh as Tina pushes Shane. They reach the room and Tina grabs the envelope of papers. She takes them out and almost instantly her face lights up and her eyes well with tears.
“We found her Shane… we found her…”
Shane looks at her friend confused.
“What does it say?”
Tina turns the packet to face Shane.
“It’s a deed, in Bette’s name, to a stand-alone cabin in Big Bear. The purchase date is a few weeks after she moved to LA. She’s there Shane, I just know it. We have to go.”
