Date Night
Jane pulled into Maura’s semi-circular driveway with a sense of relief. Working homicide is a guaranteed rough day any day, so she especially relished these little after-hours rendezvous with her lover. She rang the bell and waited for the doctor to open the door, fidgeting awkwardly in the fancy black dress and shoes Maura had picked out for her to wear tonight. Oh, the things I do for love! she mused silently.
When the door opened, the angel Rizzoli was expecting turns out to be a sexily clad vixen in a red and black satin and lace cocktail dress that accentuated every one of Jane’s favorite curves with expert precision. “Holy Mama!” she exclaimed breathily, snatching Maura by the waist and pulling her close.
Maura laughed and wrapped her arms around her lover’s long, high neck, kissing her happily and squealing when Jane lifted her up by her behind, kissing her harder. The detective didn’t accost her partner for too long, but refused to relinquish their kiss until quite a bit longer.
As usual, the doctor had a beautifully elegant dinner ready and waiting, and the house, though always in a state of artful grace, had been slightly darkened and candles strategically placed around to heighten the romantic mood. Jane smiled, a bit chagrinned. Maura was such a cheesy romantic, but despite the detective’s efforts to remain unmoved and stoic as always, the fact that this other woman put so much effort into trying to make things special for her made her heart turn to mush.
“Everything looks amazing, Maura,” Jane whispered, taking the doctor by the hand and walking side-by-side to the dining table. “Especially you.” She kissed the hand she held and let it go so she could pull Dr. Isles’ chair out for her. The detective’s high-bred partner loved this sort of thing, and on these special occasions, Jane allowed herself to curb her tendency toward crudeness in order to be the smooth romantic partner instead.
“Thank you, my love,” Maura purred, and Jane kissed her temple from behind.
“You’re very welcome.” As Rizzoli took her seat to the left, the doctor poured two glasses of strawberry wine – an expensive brand Dr. Isles had painstakingly sought out that they both could fully enjoy together. Jane’s penchant for beer over wine was nearly irrepressible, but Maura was persistent as always and grinned smugly when the brunette sipped her wine and hummed appreciatively. “I’m so glad I finally found a wine you’ll drink,” she said teasingly.
