The bed dipped and he pulled the blanket up, covering himself. He gasped when he felt her slide against him. Her too cold hands traced, lightly brushing his face, his arms, his chest. When her face hovered above his, he grabbed her, both hands rising to surround her tiny neck. Even in the dark, he could see her smile form. Tugging his hands free, she leaned closer, nuzzling into the crook of his neck, her body shaking with quiet, gentle laughter. His tears started when hers began. Tangled brown curls fell around him as she moved, spreading her body over his. He smiled when she blew across the tiny hairs on his chest, tickling.
In the dim moonlight, when his hands idly slipped down the skin of her neck, fingers tracing the shallows of her collarbone, he could almost imagine his Ashley, was still the woman in his arms. Jutting bone ruined that illusion, completely. As his fingers slipped into deeper indentations, he physically shook the thoughts from his mind, pushing her away roughly. He broke his oath on purpose, turning on the single bulb over the stove, busying himself with opening cans, filling pots. The smell of chicken noodle drew her and she padded, silent and naked, stopping just outside the small circle of light. Reaching towards the stove’s hood, he sighed, pressing the tiny switch, returning them to promised darkness.

The dryer dinged and Aiden pulled it open, removing a large, white bath towel. Walking over to the bathroom’s open door, he knocked lightly before entering. Teeth chattering, Ashley stood, smiling gratefully as the warm fabric surrounded her small frame. Aiden rubbed gently, patting her curls dry before helping her from the tub. While she brushed her teeth, he rummaged through his dresser searching for her favorite shirt. Checkered flannel in hand, he returned to the bathroom. Smiling, Ashley let the towel fall. Standing on tiptoes, she grazed his cheek with her lips. He held the shirt open, shaking it playfully. Laughing she slid into it, buttoning it to her chin. Delicate fingers intertwined with his, pulling him out of the small room, towards the bed.
She was still so soft. Everywhere his lips traveled was covered in warm silk. Her scent surrounded them, feeding his hunger, revealing her need. Ashley’s fingers played with the cleft of his chin before gently lifting, forcing hazel to meet watering brown. His fingers covered her mouth before she could say it, before she could say anything. Smiling, Aiden gently brushed her tears away with the pad of his thumb. Holding his hand in hers, Ashley pulled it to her lips, kissing each finger before slowly unbuttoning her shirt. Staring into her eyes, he lowered his lips to her stomach whispering the words he knew she desperately needed to hear. “You are so beautiful.”

Man, this story just breaks my freaking heart. So happy, yet so sad at the same time. Here’s what I got from this chapter: Ashley used to go to Aiden when she was all crazy on drugs, Spencer had a boy but we still don’t know how she’s doing (the whole priest being there is not good though, right?), and Paula gave her blessing finally to Ashley because of everything Ashley did for Spencer. I just really, really, really hope Spencer is okay. It would totally suck if you killed her. That whole flashback to when Spencer was a child and she didn’t want to be left alone in the dark. That’s not foreboding, right? I beg of you DON’T KILL SPENCER! Anyway, if you can’t tell already, I LOVE this story! PMS!
omg!!!! This story is so fucking good! I’m confused like a mutha fucker but, I love this story. Please, please, please keep updating. I’ve read What Happens Next, I guess I’m confused about all the flash backs and what happens when. Ashley cheated on Spencer with Aiden how many times? (that’s fucked up) Did Spencer ever find out? It seems like Ashley went home to Spencer right after she had sex with Aiden in the previous chapter. (Ewww, not safe!) Was Aiden boning Glen then? I know who Tristian and Sammie are but, I’m confused about Sara…..This chapter rocked my freakin’ socks!!! Paula and Ashley bonding over Spencer and the baby smoking a joint together made me LMAO. That was so pricless! I thought Paula was going to snap on Ash when she smelled pot. I was so afraid for Ash. And did I say I love Christina. I love the way she supports Spencer and Ashley. I LMAO when she hit Ash up side the head with the newspaper after not specking to Spencer for 4 weeks. And like Spencer, I laughed when Ash’s mom hit her on the butt. Priceless. I also love how you are bringing the girl’s mom’s together and the family. Your family dinner’s are always interesting and funny. I love Glen for giving Ashley advice before she went into the delivery room. This story is great on so many levels. I love your writing style. I just read this story from the beginging so I just catching up. PMS Please and thanks for sharing.
