Cruel Intentions – (Chapter: Chapter 4)

    Chapter 4

Spencer stood outside the coffee shop, obviously not thinking out her escape route very well.

“Spence.” Ashley said, walking up to her. “I’m…sorry…” Spencer turned and looked at her with a soft half smile.

“No, I’m sorry too. It was really childish of me just to ATTEMPT to walk out on you like that.” Spencer said, and they both laughed.

“Well, It’s already 1 ‘o clock and a short day, so school is out now. We could go back to my place…” Ashley said, and Spencer’s expression became one of horror.

“We’ve been here all day?!? I missed the first day of school! My mom is gonna be so mad…” Spencer said, starting to hyperventilate. Ashley grabbed her by the shoulders.

“Look, just calm down. Everything’s gonna be ok. None of the classes even take attendance on assembly days.” Ashley said. Spencer visibly relaxed.

“Really?” Spencer asked, hopefully. “Maybe I can meet up with my brothers outside the school.”

“Well, if you want…” Ashley started to make an invitation for her and Spencer to hang out, but she could see Spencer had enough excitement for one day. “It will take about five minutes to get to the school and…” Ashley checked her watch. “seven minutes until school ends. We could walk together?” Spencer nodded happily and with that Ashley and Spencer headed back to the school.

Ashley bummed around a few hours, and did a little shopping after dropping Spencer off. She finally returned home and heard some voices from the living room. It’s not that she cared if people saw her looking less than perfect after a hot day in L.A., she just didn’t want any of her ex’s knowing where she lives.

She went in the living room to find Kelly talking to a woman who evidently didn’t know how to say no to plastic surgery. And a teenage girl with her, who had to be the woman’s daughter.

“Oh, hello.” Kelly said, as she saw Ashley enter. “This is Samantha Charleston, a member of the school board, and here is her daughter Becky.” She said gesturing to the two women.

“Actually, it’s Becca.” The other girl muttered.

“Yeah.” Kelly snapped, before flashing an innocent smile at the girl’s mother. “This is Ashley Davies.” Kelly said, gesturing towards Ashley.

“Hi.” Ashley said, with a half wave, obviously annoyed. Ms. Charleston looked at her with disgust.

“Evelyn Davies daughter?” The woman asked. Ashley nodded, a little upset. She couldn’t stand her mother, but she doesn’t see why someone else has to hate her.

“Charmed.” The woman said, putting on a fake smile. “So, Kelly, since we’re new in town, maybe you could show Becca around L.A. on say Sunday morning?”

“Oh, well, maybe Sunday afternoon? I have church Sunday morning.” Kelly said, with a sweet smile. Ashley scoffed and Kelly flashed a glare at her.

“Oh ok. Here’s my address.” Ms. Charleston said, handing a card over to Kelly, “Just drop by at 12. Well, we must be going.” She said, getting up and dragging up Becca up and to the door.

“I’ll walk you out.” Kelly said, following them out. “It’s been a pleasure. Good day.” As soon as the door was shut, Kelly’s face became a frown. “Becca Charleston. You bitch, are definitely going down.”

‘Uh oh.’ Ashley thought. ‘Looks like someone done pissed Kelly off.’
