    Ashley nervously walked to the Carlin’s front door with the assignments in hand. She rang the doorbell and it didn’t take but half a minute before Paula answered the door. “Ashley, it’s nice to see you. What are you doing here?”

     

    “I came to bring Spencer her assignments.” Ashley explained holding up the paperwork.

     

    “Well that is very sweet of you but you just missed her. If you’d like I can give them to her.” Paula suggested.

     

    “Sure,” She said handing the assignments to the oldest blonde. “Um, do you know where she went by any chance?” Ashley asked. Part of her bringing the assignments over was so that they could talk.

     

    “No, I’m sorry. She only said that she was going for a walk. She should be back within the hour if you want to wait.”

     

    “No thank you. Just tell her I stopped by?”

     

    “Sure,” Paula said. Ashley walked away and got in her car. Her plan was ruined and she didn’t know how to fix it or even if she could. Maybe this was a blessing; it isn’t like Ashley knew what she was going to say anyways. She had thought all day about what she was going to say to her but she decided on winging it.

     

    Once Ashley arrived home, she got out of her car and saw a familiar face sitting on her porch. She took a deep breath and walked up to her friend. “Hey,” She said shyly to the blonde who didn’t say anything in response. “Look, I’m sorry about what I said. It was stupid and offensive and I…I’m sorry.” Ashley said not knowing what to expect.

     

    Spencer stayed silent for a bit. “No amount of ‘I’m sorry’ is going to make it go away.” Spencer said causing Ashley’s heart rate to beat faster and faster. “But, I came here to tell you that it’s okay. I know what it’s like to be in that position of being ashamed of whom and what you are. It’s your choice as far as coming out goes…just try not to hurt people in the process.”

     

    Ashley held her hand out to Spencer. “Come on.”

     

    “What?” Spencer asked confused.
