Best For Me – (Chapter: I saw you for a minute in time.)

Spencer bit her lip and frowned as she tried to manoeuvre her car into a space that was just large enough to take it. Some idiots had parked two large SUV’s over the line, and Spencer’s rather smaller car just fit in between, with not a lot of room on either side. Blowing the blonde tendrils of hair that had escaped her pony tail off her face, she put the car in park, and turned around. Smiling at the little girl strapped into a car seat in the back, she signed with her hands, saying the words as she formed them,

    “We’re here.”

She was rewarded with a gorgeous smile, the same smile that had melted Spencer’s heart for the last four years, and an excited look in the eyes. Shaking her head slightly in disbelief over how lucky she still felt, she squeezed her way out of the car and got the back seat open. Fumbling with the catches, she managed to get her daughter out in one piece, thankful that she was so small, and set her on the ground next to the car. Warning her with a look and a quick sign to stay back between the cars, she found her various bags, and locked up. Taking the small hand in hers, and looking both ways for cars, she made her way to the lift, her heart beat stepping just a beat faster as they passed the same sign they passed month in and month out,

    Callaghan Memorial Children’s Hospital

They emerged on the eighth floor, and Spencer felt Elly tug on her hand, pulling her along the corridor. For her daughter, this was a fun place, full of toys and kind people. For Spencer, this was a place of mixed emotions. The place where they were told how sick their daughter was, a place where they were told there was a chance to make her better, and a place where she’d held her infant daughter in her arms and cried, pouring her heart out with thanks that she was going to be alright. All of that had been two years ago, but Spencer could feel every emotion tucked away neatly inside her. Taking a deep breath she let Elly pull her along.

    1. Great beginning. Im thinking possibly they should have you writing for SON. The premiere was….ok.Your stories have everyone more glued to the computer then the premiere had me to the TV. Thanks and PMS

    2. You, overposting? Never!!! And if you enjoy it, by all means, go crazy, because we’d be the ones reaping all the benefits! This story is great so far. For some reason I like reading stories that are set in the future. Anyway, I hope you post continuously with this one as well because like anything you write, it’s awesome. Your writing just wants me to read more and more. And like someone said, it’s probably better than the real SON itself! No kidding. =D

    3. Woah! I’m WAAAY at the back of the line on commenting on this one. Sorry! I was TOO BUSY WATCHING THE PREMIERE!!! MWAHAHAHAHA! Anyway, glad you enjoyed your nachos. Jesus and I were both left with a mixed feeling about the premiere, so (through you’ve already seen it, I’m sure) we are both thrilled to see a new post! YAY! I like the story so far! Interested to see where it’s headed – as in who Spencer’s baby daddy/mama is. I’d say “Love it” but you already know that. Keep posting, it makes me happy. And, no, you can’t overpost. Glad to see you’re recovering from your brain being eaten, by the way.

    4. yummy mummy? Only you Ash!I really love your writing, I read one chapter over at the forums, and next thing I know I’ve been reading everything that you have written. It’s awesome, and addicting.

    9. You are a master storyteller, seriously. All your stories have such depth and insight into your characters specifically and human nature in general. I’m honestly still catching up, but love what I’ve read so far. And your details are awesome, like the precarious nature of Elly’s construction giving omen to a collapse– I loved that! It just really stuck out for me. Sorry if I’m rambling, but (even though I am American) I had no access to the show either ;.; Though as others have said, your writing is much better than that of SONs staff, but, meh, I guess they give us pretty images to look at ;>D

    11. you know that no matter what you write, I’m going to love it. It’s like I say “love it” out of habit, mainly because I’m blatantly biased towards your stories, and not mentioning my love of them would be an offence. Awesomely different to your other stories, and I look forward to seeing where it goes! I promise I’ll write more when I’m next stationary for longer than 10 mins! ;-)
