    Take that!

    Ashley was running short on songs to sing, but she was in luck because Spencer appeared to be running short on tears to cry. “These words will fade, when you explain, why you hate them. We are the same. She keeps repeating…” Ashley sang but stopped when Spencer raised her head from Ashley’s lap. “Are you feeling a little bit better?” Ashley asked.

     

    “Hardly” came the short reply. “How about we go ahead and eat the dinner I made?” Spencer suggested as she lifted herself to her feet and then grabbed the brunette’s hand and pulled her up to eye level.

     

    “Are you sure you don’t want me to leave?”

     

    “No,” Spence spoke up. “Do you want to leave?” Spencer asked concerned.

     

    “No, I just didn’t want to make you uncomfortable or anything,”

     

    Spencer nodded in a sense of understanding as she walked into the kitchen. Ashley followed her in and wiped a stray tear from the blondes face. “Everything is going to be alright.” Ashley spoke softly. Spencer, once again, nodded. “Let’s get some food in you.” Ashley said patting the blonde’s stomach gently causing a giggle to escape.

     

    Spencer pulled the lid off of the steaming pot and looked inside to find the water gone and the noodles seemed to have grown to an unusual size. “Gross,” Spencer spoke in disgust at the swollen and slimy noodles.

     

    “Aw, you tried your best sweetie.” Ashley said placing a hand on Spencer’s shoulder.

     

    “Yeah, well it’s ruined.”

     

    “Well, what was it going to be?” Ashley asked looking into the pot.

     

    “Chicken parmesan” the blonde spoke opening the oven to reveal the chicken.

     

    Ashley smiled and pulled Spencer away from the stove. “So how about we go out? I know this great seafood restaurant.” She offered.

     

    “Um, I don’t really like seafood.” Spencer said shyly. “If you give me a few minutes, I can make something else.”

     

    “No, you went through all that work already. How about we just…hang out?” Ashley offered and received a nod.

     

     

    Meanwhile, Aiden stepped out of his car and looked at the sight in front of him. There stood a small, one story home. Actually, stood would be an overstatement. Half of it was burned down and the other half looked as though it was about to cave in.
