Knights of Rage – (Chapter: 7)

“Don’t worry,” she said. “Glen isn’t home, so you can come in and meet my parents.”

“Isn’t it a little early to do that?” I asked.

“Nope,” she said. She took my hand and kissed the back of it. “Don’t worry. Everything will be fine.”

I was still nervous as hell. Parents and I don’t always get along. For once, I actually cared. I want them to like me. I’ve never felt this way about someone before. I’ll do anything to make her happy. And I’ve only known her for a few days.

I pulled into the driveway of Spencer’s house and turned the car off. Spencer put her hand on my arm.

                “You ok?” she asked.

                “Yeah,” I said.

“Are you sure?” she asked. “You don’t look so good.”

                “I’m just nervous,” I said.

“Why?” she asked. “I told you my parents are cool.”

“I know,” I said. “I just want them to like me.”

“They’ll love you,” she said. “Trust me.”

“If you weren’t so cute,” I said shaking my head and getting out of the car. Spencer smiled and hopped out of the car. We met at the front of the car and she took my hand as we walked toward the house. I took a few deep breaths just before we walked inside.

“Everything is going to be fine,” Spencer whispered in my ear. She kissed my cheek and opened the door. “Mom, I’m home.”

“Hi honey,” her mom said, walking in from the kitchen.

“Mom,” Spencer said, “This is Ashley. Ashley, this is my mom.”

“Hi Mrs. Carlin,” I said smiling. “It’s nice to meet you.”

“It’s nice to meet you too,” Paula smiled sweetly.

“You have a really nice house,” I said.

“Why thank you,” she said. “We’ve tried to keep it nice.”

                “Where’s dad?” Spencer asked.

“I think he’s out in the backyard,” Paula said.

“I’m going to get him so he can meet Ashley,” Spencer said. I squeezed her hand tighter, telling her not to leave me alone. “I’ll be right back.”

She walked off and left me and her mom there.
