Alice entered the lounge seeing Bette there holding the bottle of tequila.”You’ll regret that later Porter”. Still steering in the direction of the door she snaped out of her thoughts “what..what did you say Al”. Alice just motioned her head down to the tequila Bette looked down to her hand “you won’t be able to admire those jeans if you’re past out now can you”. Bette blushed and smiled back at Alice “those are some damned assragous jeans aren’t they”, “mmmm.hmmm” they both laughed. Ding Dong the doorbell rang
Alice:”Saved by the bell”

Everybody had arrived and were sitting arround making small talk waiting for dinner to be served.
Alice: “I’m starving” stomach growling “she wouldn’t even let me go in there for a snack”
Dana: “I have some mints if you want one Al”
Alice: “Ah nooo
Shane: “Yeah T’s acting wierd is there a special occasion or something I forgot about”
All look at each other “I don’t think so” Alice shrugged
Tina: “Ok guys find your seat cause it’s ready”
Alice: “Thank god”

Tina and Bette had sat opposite each other during dinner and were shamelessly making eyes at one another. This was not lost on Kit who pulled her sister to the side to talk.
Kit: concerned “So did you you do it. I’ve seen those looks between you two and if you and if your heart’s not in it don’t string her along, she doesn’t deserve that Bette.”
Bette: smiling “It’s ok Kit I did what I said. I love her I really do” they hug “thanks for your concern”

Shane: “So are we all ready to go to Milk”
Tina: “Oh don’t you want dessert I made my famous chocolate ch…
Alice: interupts “chocolate cheese cake” stands up grabs a spoon and makes a bee-line to the kitchen with Tina chasing trying to head her off.
They all laugh
Shane: “Well I guess not”

In the kitchen Tina stopped Alice before she managed to plunge her spoon in the cake.
Alice: “Aw come on T”
Tina: “This is for everyone Al don’t be a gready guts”she said teasingly ” if you had a good look in there you would have seen the other one for you tomorrow”
Alice broke out in a huge smile and gave Tina hug but she was curious and had to ask “So T are we all forgetting a birthday or something because as nice as this is it’s abit unusual even for you”
Tina: smiled back she could’nt keep it to herself any longer “Al promise me you won’t tell this to anyone”
Alice: “Sure Tina I promise”
Tina: “I got a promotion today but it’s out of the country and at this stage I’ll be gone for a year”
Alice: all excited grabs Tina while they jump around in circles, then she calmed down and the excitement turned to sorrow as she knew how much she’d miss Tina “***** a year, so when do you leave”
Tina: “tomorrow”
Alice: “Wow that soon, so that’s what tonights about”
Tina: “yeah I wanted to do this before I leave. I don’t really want to go to Milk tonight I just want to spend my last night with all of you do you understand”
Alice: “Sure I’ll make an excuse, so does Bette know”
There was a voice from the other room it’s was Bette “Are you two going to come out and share”
Tina:”No and please Al remember you promised me you wouldn’t”
Alice: “I know, I won’t, promise”
Tina: “We better get back out there, we’ll talk later ok”

After dessert Alice had kept her promise, although she had come close a few times to blurting it out but she bit her lip. And she came up with the idea that since everyone was there and they still had a massive supply of alcohol that they should have there poker night. It was like old times but every time she’d look at Tina her heart ached as if already missing her friend.
On the radio in the background someone had put the cd that played at Bette and Tina’s wedding on and the song they danced to, their song came on By your side by Sade they both smiled and instinctivly they made there way to the middle the room. As they met they fell into eachother and swayed back and forth laying gentle kisses on the others lips and in that moment they felt like they were home, forgetting all there problems. Seeing this display of affection brought tears to everyone’s eyes as there hearts melted at the thought that they had found their way back together, but Alice knew different and she was crying for other reasons. The song ended but they stayed in there embrace and started to deepen their kiss when Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On came on. Shane: “I think thats our cue to leave guys” she whispered. With that they all snuck out the door. Not that it mattered because they were oblivious to the rest of the world.
