Bette was sitting in the office she had been provided just staring at some paperwork for tonight. Her mind was a million miles away when there was a knock on the door.

Come in.

Bette heard the door open and when the person entering didnt say anything Bette looked up with a slightly annoyed look on her face to find the most amazing thing she had ever seen. Tina was standing there smiling sweetly at her and Bette had never been happier to see her. TINA? Bette did a double take before jumping up and wrapping her arms around Tina. Tina laughed a little at Bettes reaction and kissed her forehead softly before lightly brushing Bettes hair out of her face so that she could look into her eyes.

Surprise baby.

Oh my god T, how did you get here?

Peggy flew me out. She called me two weeks ago and insisted that I come to the opening. She said something about you looking like ***** and needing some TLC.

Bette smiled at Tina and kissed her softly on the lips before rubbing their noses together gently. Tina could see the exhaustion in Bettes body and she easily read the tiredness in Bettes eyes. She ran a hand through Bettes hair again and Bette just held on to her smiling down at her.

Yes baby I dothese past two weeks have been insane. I missed you so much.

I missed you toowe missed you.

Tina rubbed her belly gently and when Bette looked down sure enough she saw the protrusion in Tinas abdomen. Bette smiled happily when she saw this and she bent down to kiss Tinas stomach. Tina laughed at this and pulled Bettes face back up to hers.

So do you have time to take a pregnant lady out to lunch?

Nobut I have time to take my family wherever they want to go.

Tina smiled and her and Bette walked hand in hand out of the museum. Bette knew everything would be fine for the opening and she really wanted to spend all day with Tina. They spent the afternoon eating at a local restaurant and Bette told Tina all about the show and how things were going for the opening. They walked around for a little before Tina said she was tired and wanted to rest before the opening. Bette took her back to the hotel and soon both her and Tina were fast asleep in Bettes room. A few hours later Bette was waiting for Tina to finish getting dressed so that they could head down to the museum together. The show opened at seven and Bette didnt want to be late for this. Peggy had sent a limo to pick them up and Bette was grateful for everything Peggy had done for her these past couple of weeks. Tina emerged from the bathroom fully dressed and when Bette turned to look at her she felt her knees turn to mush and her heart started beating faster than she ever thought possible. Tina was wearing a dark red, backless Vera Wang, also another gift from Peggy, and she looked absolutely incredible. Tina saw her reaction and she gave Bette a lop sided grin before sauntering over to her. Bette had a similar smile on her face and when Tina got close enough Bette wrapped her arms around Tinas waist.

Tina smiled and kissed Bette lightly on the lips before taking her hand and leading her to the door. Tinas hair was pulled up and she had a little bit of makeup on, just enough to make her face look radiant against her silky white skin. Bette felt like she was floating as they took the limo over to the museum and when they got out on the red carpet Bette took Tinas hand and didnt intend to let go all night.

Once inside Bette went into high gear as she was constantly being pulled in ten different directions to talk to this critic or that reporter. The Provocations opening was small potatoes compared to this opening and Tina sat back and watched Bette work her charm over the entire room. Within minutes of their arrival everyone had an eye on Bette, and Tina knew this was where she shined. Tina smiled as Bette was asked question after question about Peggys collection and she always managed to handle each question with the same poise and grace Tina has seen her do time and time again. Peggy walked up to Tina and greeted her with a hug as they watched Bette in action.

I have to say Tina, Bette is quite amazing.

Yeahshe is. Hey Peggy, I just wanted to thank you again for giving Bette this chance and for flying me out for this.

Dont mention it dear. Bette deserves to be happy and I know that can only be accomplished with you by her side. Have fun tonightexcuse me I am needed in the west gallery.

Peggy wandered off leaving Tina to reflect on what she said. She is only happy when Im by her side, Tina sighed contentedly and put her hand on her stomach. She felt a warm sensation as she thought about all they had been through to get to this point and she never wanted to let that feeling go. Bette finally managed to break free and quickly found Tina standing near one of the paintings.

Wow Bette, this is incredible. How did you do this in just two weeks?

With a lot of hard work and too many long nights. But Im glad its over.

Me tooIm ready for you to come home.

Bette smiled and put one arm around Tinas waist as they continued to look at the various artworks. Bette led Tina back into the main gallery and Tina said she needed to use the bathroom so she excused herself leaving Bette near the bar. Tina returned a few minutes later to find Bette talking to a very beautiful brunette. Tina immediately felt old pangs of jealousy and insecurity rise up but she quickly pushed them back down and forced a smile on her face. Bette wouldnt do that to me again. She loves me. Tina kept these thoughts on her mind as she made her way over to Bette and the beautiful brunette. They were talking as if they were old friends and Tina felt like she was intruding on their conversation. Bette turned to Tina and gave her a big smile before reaching for her hand. Tina let Bette take her hand but she didnt hold Bettes hand very tightly and this didnt go unnoticed by Bette. Bette introduced the woman she was talking to and Tina felt the jealousy rise again when she saw just how incredible this woman looked.

Tina, this is Annie.

Hi.

Tina its so nice to meet you.

So how do you two know each other?

Bette looked at Tina and sensed the tension in her voice but Tina just raised an eyebrow at Bette making sure to not let the smile fade off her face. Tinas guard was already up and if Bette had cheated on her again she was not going to let Bette make a fool out of her. Again.

We met last night. We are staying at the same hotel and Bette kept me company while I had a drink.

Tina looked at Bette again and she couldnt believe what she was hearing. So thats why she didnt answer her phone, thought Tina bitterly. She tried to let go of Bettes hand but Bette had a firm grip on her so there was no discrete way for Tina to untangle their hands. Bette could tell Tina was not happy with what she was hearing and she quickly tried to explain the situation.

After I got back from my last meeting I went to the bar to have a drink and Annie was sitting by herself so she joined me. We shared random stories about everything and anything. Annies from San Francisco where she lives with her girlfriend.

Bette emphasized girlfriend hoping that Tina would catch the hint, but by the look on her face she still wasnt satisfied. Annie smiled at them warmly, not seeing the tension between them, and Bette hoped Tina wouldnt say anything in front of her.

Yeah, TinaBette couldnt stop gushing about her beautiful wife and mother to be and now I know what she means. You look great, and that dress is amazing.

Tina smiled self-consciously and she immediately felt bad for jumping to conclusions. She gave Bettes hand a small squeeze as if to say Im sorry, and Bette acknowledged it with a smile and kiss on the cheek. They talked for a little while longer before Annie said she had a flight to catch so she needed to go, but if they were ever in SF, her and Julie would love to take them out to dinner. Tina watched Annie walk away and she felt the tension return to her body. She had been quick to assume that Bette had hit on that woman and she didnt like it. Things had been so great this past year and Bette had been more than perfect these past seventeen weeks but Tina knew Bette too well to know she wouldnt just let tonight go. After what seemed like forever, the opening was finally over and Tina and Bette took the limo back to the Plaza. The ride back was quiet and Bette wondered what Tina was thinking. They got up to their room and changed for bed before Bette asked Tina about how she felt seeing her talking to Annie. Bette knew she might be opening the flood gates, after all Tinas hormones were unpredictable these days, but still she needed to clear the air before this built up and exploded later on down the line.

Yeahit was funtiring but fun.

Yeah. Thats kind of how I felt all week.

Babe, why didnt you tell me about Annie before the opening?

Didnt think about it I guess. I mean I just met her last night.

Is that why you didnt answer your phone when I called?

Well, I thought it would be rude to just interrupt so I thought I would just call you back when we were done.

Tina contemplated whether or not this fight was worth having. Tina trusted Bette again and she didnt want to see that trust shattered over something that presumably didnt happen. But Tina also felt justified in needing an explanation and so she dove in head first hoping that Bette was telling the truth.

Then why didnt you call me back last night?

We talked until pretty late and I didnt want to wake you up.

How late?

I dont knowaround four I think.

Four in the morning? What the ***** were you talking about until four in the morning?

Tina, lets not do this please?

Do what Bette?

Fine you want to talk about it, just admit it first.

Admit what?

Admit you think something happened. I saw it in your eyes tonight Tina, Jesus Christ, after everything thats happened do you really think I would do that again?

I dont know Bette would you?

They were standing on opposite sides of the bed just staring at each other and Bette felt tears of frustration building up. She couldnt believe that Tina didnt trust her and she didnt know what else to say to make her believe she was telling the truth. Tina felt tears of her own building up and she knew they were caused by her own frustration with the fact that Bette thought so little of her. Bette took a deep breath and tried to control her temper as she sat down and looked at Tina. When she spoke her voice was soft and she hoped Tina believed what she was telling her.

Baby, Im sorry okay. Nothing happened. We just got caught up talking and I didnt want to wake you up.

Tina looked at Bette and knew she was telling the truth. Tina had known all along that Bette wouldnt cheat on her again, but she was surprised at her own reaction to being put in this situation again. Tina wasnt the jealous type, but seeing Bette be so friendly with Annie tonight just set her off somehow. Damn hormones, she thought as she crawled over and wrapped her arms around Bette.

I know Bette. It was just a reflex I guess because of what happened before. Im sorry too okay?

Bette turned and looked at Tina with sad eyes.

T, I thought that was all in the past. I dont want to worry that youre going to get jealous every time I talk to a woman. You are the only one for methe only one I will ever need and I would never do that to you or the baby.

I know babeI know.

Tina gave Bette a soft kiss on the nose and cheek before running her lips over Bettes mouth and teasing her bottom lip. Bette felt all her worries disappear as she smiled into Tinas kisses and bit down gently on Tinas lip. Tina pulled back a little and kissed her way to Bettes ear before whispering in it softly.

You knowwe still have some unfinished business.

Bette looked confused, as she didnt have a clue as to what Tina was talking about. Tina laughed and leaned over to reach for the phone causing Bette to understand. Bette let out a laugh as Tina pushed her back on the bed and kissed her gently. It was going to be a long night for both of them and Bette just hoped that they made it to their flight the next morning on time.
