    Goodbye Party- Chapter 3

    March 18, 2012-New York City

Tina let Alice into the house and smiled when she saw Bette lying on the sofa bed with Angie watching cartoons. They had decided for Bette’s benefit that sleeping on the sofa bed would be the best place for bed rest that way she could be near the kitchen when Tina was cooking, near the dining room when Angie was doing her homework, and near the T.V when, well, she wanted to watch T.V.

The moment Bette saw Alice walking in sheepishly, the big-bellied brunette started pushing herself up to stand.

"Ah ah!" Tina nearly howled, "do not stand up you stubborn woman!"

Alice giggled as Angelica jumped off the couch. She was tall for her age and absolutely beautiful. Alice’s laugh was cut short by a soft sob. Tina glanced at her and Bette bit her lip, forgetting about the argument for the sake of not ruining the moment.

"I’ve seen your pictures," Angelica said stopping in front of the woman, "you’re Auntie Alice, my godmother."

Alice crumbled to her knees in tears and pulled Angelica in for a tight hug. "Yes, yes! I am your Earth mother, I have been waiting a long time to meet you Angie, so long."

Tina walked over to the couch and sat beside Bette. Bette grumbled at her.

    "What?" Tina scoffed.

    "I am mad at you."

"Why because I wanna obey the doc’s orders?"

"I haven’t seen my best friend in 7 years and I wanna get up and give her a proper hug," Bette said with a pout.

"Don’t give me that face!" Tina laughed.

"Oh come on Bette it’s alright," Alice said walking to the couch hand-in-hand with Angie. "I’ll come give you a hug."

Bette brow furrowed as Alice sat in front of her. She saw the deep sadness in the once bright and cheerful eyes of Alice Piezecki and she felt a pain deep inside knowing that her best friend would never be the same again.

"What?" Alice said cocking her head to the side.

"Uh it’s just…uh you called me by my first name," Bette lied which Tina immediately caught on to, "it was just weird."

Alice smiled warmly. "Well things have changed and I think you deserve more respect than being called Porter. ‘Sides your last name is too long now, I can’t go around calling you Porter-Kennard."

    1. PLease, the writers post when they can. Life is life. I wan† you to continue to write this story to see how you weave the characters back together. I’m quite intrigued! Thanks for the update.

    2. Had something to add and hit the button by accident. I think the state of California owes Alice a hell of a lot of money should she file suit against the LA Police Dept or the city whatever the case may be and the state for keeping her in jail for 7 yrs and no one would listen to nor try to help her when she proclaimed her innocence. For that they need to pay up in a big way.
