To the Original Readers of Eternal Rocks Beneath,

More than a decade ago, I began writing a story about Tina and Bette in the little town of Athens, Tennessee. You were there from the beginning. You read the story as it unfolded, waited for new chapters, shared your thoughts, laughed and cried with these women, questioned their choices, and encouraged me along the way. Your enthusiasm gave Tina and Bette a life far beyond anything I could have imagined when I first wrote them.

I will always be grateful for that.

I certainly never imagined that the characters I created within The L Word fandom would one day become the foundation for a work of literary fiction. Yet here we are, thirteen years later, watching that story begin an entirely new chapter. 

With my full permission and through thoughtful collaboration with Stacy Lynn Miller, Eternal Rocks Beneath has been reimagined as a two-volume work of literary fiction. Tina and Bette have become Persephone “Percy” Hall and Diana Walker, and their world has been transformed beyond its L Word origins into a Southern Gothic coming-of-age story about friendship, first love, trauma, resilience, and the enduring power of the past.

So, while the names have changed, the journey you knew has not disappeared. It has simply evolved. In 2027, Eternal Rocks Beneath will be published by Bold Strokes Books, with Stacy Lynn Miller as its author. Watching this happen has been surreal and deeply moving. But bringing such a sprawling story to publication required changes. Some elements have been added, others reshaped, and many scenes and storylines compressed or removed to create a cohesive two-volume novel.

Those pieces aren’t necessarily gone forever. Some of the material that couldn’t fit into the published books will eventually find a home at stacylynnmiller.com, where Stacy plans to share extras from the original story and other material connected to Percy and Diana. In that way, long-time readers will still have opportunities to revisit some of the moments, details, and storylines that made the original Eternal Rocks Beneath so expansive.

While the story is no longer exactly the one I wrote all those years ago, it still carries the heart of what began with Tina and Bette. And that is something I hope you will feel when you meet Percy and Diana. 

For deeply personal and spiritual reasons, I am no longer writing, nor do I have a social media presence anywhere. So, thank you. Thank you for reading. Thank you for staying. Thank you for believing in the message of this epic work.
