    Face Down – (Chapter: 7)

    *Ashley’s POV*

I saw Spencer running out of the house crying. She was holding her cheek with her hand. She got in the car and didn’t say anything. She just cried.

“Spence,” I said softly, “what happened?”

She still didn’t say anything. I drove home and Spencer still hadn’t stopped crying. I got out of the car and walked over to the passenger side. I called Kyla to have her open the door. I opened the car door and put her arm around my shoulders. I put an arm behind her back and the other behind her knees. I got her out of the car and walked to the front door. Kyla opened the door and walked out. Spencer was sobbing into my shoulder with her arms around my neck.

                “What happened?” Kyla asked.

“I don’t know,” I said. “She hasn’t said anything since she left her parents’ house.”

                “Wow,” Kyla said.

“Yeah,” I said. “Do me a favor and lock my car and shut the door please.”

                “No problem,” Kyla said.

“Thanks,” I said. I started walking to the door. “I’m going to get her upstairs then we’ll talk.”

Kyla nodded and I walked inside with Spencer. I got her upstairs and put her down on my bed. I covered her with a blanket and kissed her forehead.

“I’ll be right back,” I whispered. I walked out into the hall shutting the door behind me. I slid down the wall and held my head in my hands. Kyla walked upstairs and sat next to me.

                “How is she?” Kyla asked.

“Still crying,” I said. “It must have gone really bad. She was only in there for fifteen minutes.”

“Why did she have to go over there?” Kyla asked.

“Her mom disowned her and kicked her out,” I said. “That’s why she’s been here the past few days. But it looks like she’ll be staying for a while longer. But anyways, her dad called and didn’t know anything about it. So then he wanted her to come over and talk things out with her mom but I guess it didn’t go so well.”

                “That sucks,” Kyla said.
