Have A Little Faith In Me – (Chapter: To the Grave I’ll Love You In)

“You know I can’t,” came Spencer’s whispered response from the other side of the bed.

“WHY?!” The brunette demanded to know. She pulled on Spencer so that she was now face to face with her girlfriend. Ashley tried to get the stubborn girl to make eye contact but she wouldn’t look at her. At least not for longer than a second.

“I can’t just leave school in the middle of the semester Ashley! And neither should you!!” Ashley rolled her eyes at Spencer’s logic. It had all been a waiting game for her, she’d never cared about school just the musical experience it had brought her. Now she was ready to take it to the next level. “What about the wedding? You can’t just expect me to plan it all myself!”

Ashley paused the argument on the tip of her tongue frozen in mid air. She hadn’t even thought about the wedding. Her heart sunk as she realized that this was going to be a rift the size of the grand canyon between she and Spencer. So these are life’s tough decisions, Ashley thought to herself as she traced the bones in Spencer’s right hand with her index finger.

“I’m sorry Spencer. But can’t we just? I mean this is a huge opportunity for me, can’t we just wait to plan until I get back? Six months should fly by pretty fast,” She knew almost instantly that this was the wrong thing to say. Spencer narrowed her frosty blue eyes at Ashley and pursed her lips. If a look could say a thousand words, the look Ashley was caught in would be filled with obscenities. Spencer held up her hand to silence Ashley’s apology and the older girl hung her head.

“Get Out. We’re done talking. Why don’t you go pursue your dreams on the couch tonight?” Ashley didn’t argue and quickly gathered her pillow and blanket making a quick exit. She slammed the door on her way out for extra dramatic effect and was satisfied as the boom echoed throughout the still house. The brunette threw her pillow down onto the couch and flopped angrily onto the cushions. She shifted her weight trying to get comfortable on the lumpy sofa. After some time, she managed to drift to sleep and had only been out about an hour when she heard footsteps approaching her. A gentle hand fell upon her shoulder shaking her awake.
