I Write Sins Not Tragedies – (Chapter: Where’d They Go?)

“Um, I’m going to go take a shower…” Ashley finally says awkwardly. I nod my head, still unsure of what to do. Part of me says I should go see if Kyla’s okay, and the other part of me reminds me that it’s no longer my right to go see if she’s okay. But then I also remember it’s common courtesy. Actually…that’s a lie. I have no idea if it’s good or bad to check on your ex-girlfriend after she’s walked in on you making out with your current girlfriend, who also happens to be her sister. Ashley gives me a chaste kiss on the lips, and then heads over to her bathroom…and leaves the door open. Score! I’ve now been successfully distracted. However my peep show doesn’t last long, and there’s a knock at the door. Kyla peeks her head in and looks uncertain.

“Um, hey Spence…can I…talk to you maybe?” I feel guilty again. I wish she would yell at me or something. At least I could handle that. But when she goes around looking sad, hurt, and sounding unsure, as if she did something wrong, now that kills me.

“Sure.” She walks in timidly looking intimidated by her sister’s room, and I wonder if this is really the best place to be having a conversation with her. “What’s up?” I ask hesitantly.

“I…well, I’m sure you were wondering where I was…” I nod my head, hoping to get some answers. “I was with Aiden,” she says quietly.

“Wait…you were with Aiden, or you were with Aiden,” I ask for clarification. Her eyes immediately darken and she glares at me.

“Really, Spencer, how could you ask me a question like that?” Uh oh…not good. “I’m not sure if you remember or not, but I am a lesbian. Or did you completely zone out when we were dating?” she asks bitterly.
