“For you,” I said, “yes.”

            “Ok,” she said. She took a deep breath. “Are you the one that beat the hell out of Madison the other day?”

            “Yes,” I said.

            “Are you in a gang?” she asked.

            “Yes,” I said.

            “Wow ok,” she said. “I’m glad you’re being honest with me.”

            “Is it a problem that I’m in a gang?” I asked.

            “No,” she said. “I think it’s kinda sexy that you’re a gangster.”

            I looked at her and smiled. “Sexy?” I said. “I’ll take it. But how did you know that stuff?”

            “My brother,” she said. “Glen said that you beat up Madison and one of your friends beat him up.”

            “Wait,” I said. “Carlin is your brother?”

            “Yeah,” she said. “I’m Spencer Carlin. Glen Carlin is my brother. Is that a bad thing?”

            “I feel sorry for you,” I chuckled. “I just can’t go to your house when he’s there. That’s all.”

            “Why?” she asked.

            “We’re rivals,” I said. “It would not be a good thing.”

            “So that’s why he told me I couldn’t see you ever again,” she said.

            “What?” I asked.

            “He saw you drop me off and freaked out,” she said. “He said I was forbidden from seeing you ever again. Blah, blah, blah. But I told him to go to hell. I’ll see whoever I want.”

            I smiled. “Good for you,” I said. “And just to let you know, I will never let anything bad happen to you. My boys know better than to do anything to you. The only thing I’m worried about is your brother’s boys trying to get at me when you’re around.”

            “That worries me too,” she said. “But we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.”

            I smiled. “I’m glad I saved your life,” I said. “You’re an amazing girl.”

            “I’m glad you saved me because I’m not ready to die,” she smiled.

            God I love it when she smiles. Her smile makes all my worries fade away. Am I falling for this girl already? I’ve only known her for a few hours.

            “Ash?” Spencer said shaking me out of my thoughts. “You ok?”
