“Oh yeah, after you date a bunch of guys first, right?” Spencer didn’t know how to respond to that…what could she say, no? After the events in the dining commons, denying that would be pointless.

            “I’m sorry,” she said softly. She had to think of a way to make it up to her girlfriend. She decided to leave to take a shower, she had to escape the tension. By the time she got out of the shower, she knew exactly what she would do. It was the perfect idea. She had to make a few phone calls, and she was beyond scared out of her mind, but she knew she had to do it. She had to make it up to Ashley, and if this was the way to show that she truly cared about the girl, she’d do it.

            Ashley sat at her desk absentmindedly surfing Myspace. She was supposed to be working on a paper, but she just wanted to “check” her page. That was of course five hours ago. Spencer had come back from her shower, smelling absolutely delicious, but she didn’t say anything, and had announced she had sorority business to attend to. The brunette waved her off nonchalantly pretending to not care, but she was actually extremely curious. She wanted to know if it was about the previous night, and wanted to know if Spencer would leave it all to drunken stupidity, or if she’d actually fess up and tell everyone that they were indeed dating.

It had been difficult telling her sisters, not knowing whether or not they’d accept her, and it was a precarious time to be coming out. They were pledging, and in a sorority, girls could discriminate. They couldn’t de-pledge someone on the basis of them being gay, but if the house voted against letting you in due to that fact…well, there would be no proof. But she soon realized that if they couldn’t accept her for who she was, then she couldn’t be in the organization. She had confessed to her pledge class, and to some of the sisters she was close to, and they didn’t have a problem. They were all very accepting. And with them being in a sorority, word spread quickly, and she wasn’t surprised when soon the whole house knew. The president did call her to have a brief talk with her, worried only because Spencer was a pledge not only for another sorority, but also, their rival sorority. Ashley had sworn that all secrets would be kept secret and sacred. The president told her that she was putting her trust into her, and finally ended the conversation thanking her for trusting the sisters and feeling comfortable enough to coming out to them. She was relieved to say the least, and she hoped that Spencer’s sisters would be as equally nice and understanding as hers had been.
