Picking up the other sandwich, she took a small bite, “Umm, I think I’ll take the wheat, babe.” Ashley reluctantly picked up the white sandwich and stared at it for a moment before shoving half of it into her mouth. She chewed quickly, her eyes beginning to water, “Mmm, that’s some good shi..”. Spencer frowned pointing at her stomach, “Babe!” Laughing, Ashley quickly ate the other half then reached down, pulling her wife’s feet onto her lap. Starting at the top, she used her thumbs to firmly massage her wife’s swollen left foot. Leaning against the back of her chair, Spencer moaned, “Oh my God, I’m in heaven right now.” She took another bite of her sandwich and closed her eyes, chewing happily. Ashley grinned, “Babe, I’m not sure they even have peanut butter and pickles in heaven”. Spencer grinned, her blue eyes twinkling. “If they have pregnant women up there they do!”

It could have been the way Father Michael continued to hold her hand or the way Dr. Anders lips were pressed together so tightly that they formed a single white line dividing his nose from his chin, but Ashley knew the truth. It was in the way her stomach clenched as her family exploded in excited laughter and bright smiles around her. She knew this was coming, in a way she’d always known. Her strained whisper ended it all, “What’s wrong?” As the doctor’s eyes flickered, leaving hers she felt the priest’s arm surround her shoulders. “Mrs. Davies, your son was born with a condition known as pulmonary stenosis. Normally, there are procedures we can take that would be non-invasive, but in your son’s case, his condition is severe enough to require surgical correction.”
Shuddering, Ashley felt her eyes burning as she desperately tried to make sense of the doctor’s words, “I don’t understand…”
“Inside your heart you have something called a pulmonary valve. This valve has leaflets that open to allow blood to flow forward and close to stop the blood from flowing backwards. In your son, these leaflets are fused together not allowing his heart to pump all the blood his body needs. Mrs. Davies, we need to surgically separate the leaflets.”

First of all, WHERE THE HECK IS SPENCER???!!! I’m going crazy with the not knowing if she is okay. Man, I hope she’s okay. Also, how sweet was Ashley to Spencer when she was pregnant!! The pickles and peanut butter, too sweet. I really, really hope Spencer and the baby are okay. Fantastic update. But please PMS!
ok i’m sitting here with tears in my freakin eyes!! you know how good a story is and how amazing the author is when the reader is crying!! omggg. AMAZING!! im hoping to the fanfiction gods that both spencer and the baby make it out ok! ash already lost one baby..i dont think she’d be able to handle it if she lost another..and spencer. :-( poor spencerrr. i agree with insertcleveranswer…WHERE THE HECK IS SPENCER?! AHHH! update soon!! PLEASE!

ok, so its been like 4 months since you’ve posted on this an u left me and probably millions of others completely hanging… i know ur probably busy an sick of writing on this, but please im begging you for at least a couple more posts, just to finish it off… please i will cry if u want me to… please please please please!!!!!
I discovered this story this morning and I have been reading it all day long. OMG!!! I am saddened by the fact that we don’t know what happened to Spencer? Please finish at least one more to let us know if she is stil alive. LOVE YOUR WRITING…totally emotional…

I just re-read this story from the beginging because this is so good. And I wanted to “fill” in the blanks. I went by your “@=the past and **=the present” guide line and it made things alot easier for me so thank you. I’m sorry that Spencer can’t carry a child of her own because listening to Paula talk about how beautiful she was as a little girl made me want to cry. That was such a sweet flash back of Spence saying her prayers. This story is so beautiful and bitter sweet. Your a great writer because I can picture everything in my head as I read along. Where is Spencer? Is she ok? They have to have a happily ever after because they’ve been through so much together. I love this story!
