“When…when do you want to do this?”
“Now.”
Father Michael’s gentle whisper caused the brunette to turn towards him. “The hospital contacted me because Mrs. Davies listed Catholic as her religion on her admittance forms. I can perform an emergency baptism before this procedure. Would you like for your son to be baptized?”

There was no other sound, but his soft whimper. It filled her heart completely. She’d never believed before, but it was here and it was happening and she knew, at first sight, that she was completely, utterly, in love. Impossibly soft, his tiny hand wrapped with surprising strength around her finger and she couldn’t stop the tears from spilling. He was here, her son, with her eyes, her chin, and already a head full of springy, brown curls. She couldn’t stop her fingers from finding the blanket’s seam, tugging it open. She counted slowly, whispering each number. There were ten perfect toes, matching ten perfect fingers all topped with perfect nails almost too tiny to imagine. When his eyes closed, Ashley felt her heart leap. Moments later, his mouth opened and she watched, a relieved laugh bubbling to the surface as he yawned wide, curling his toes against her palm.
She willed her eyes to stay away, but they didn’t. Instead they focused on the plastic tubes draped over his small body, attached to his nose and mouth. Hearing it all now, the beeps and the low hiss of air gently pumping into his tiny frame, Ashley ached to tear it all away, to carry him, to place him in her wife’s arms, to see the smile that never failed to take her breath away. In her dreams, she held them both, quietly witnessing their first sweet moments together. There was always this moment, when Spencer’s hand curled under her chin, pulling her face forward until they were barely apart. Closing her eyes, Ashley could feel the gentle breeze of her wife’s breath against her cheek, making her shiver. Lips were there too, pressed to her neck and Ashley smiled, feeling Spencer’s quiet laughter.
He blinked when her lips pressed into the cool skin of his forehead. Eyes squeezed closed, Ashley sobbed, begging, pleading with anyone or anything listening for the life of her child. It was the gentle firmness of a hand inside her own that quieted her, lifting her up. Father Michael smiled as he squeezed, “Mrs. Davies, may I have your son’s name?”

First of all, WHERE THE HECK IS SPENCER???!!! I’m going crazy with the not knowing if she is okay. Man, I hope she’s okay. Also, how sweet was Ashley to Spencer when she was pregnant!! The pickles and peanut butter, too sweet. I really, really hope Spencer and the baby are okay. Fantastic update. But please PMS!
ok i’m sitting here with tears in my freakin eyes!! you know how good a story is and how amazing the author is when the reader is crying!! omggg. AMAZING!! im hoping to the fanfiction gods that both spencer and the baby make it out ok! ash already lost one baby..i dont think she’d be able to handle it if she lost another..and spencer. :-( poor spencerrr. i agree with insertcleveranswer…WHERE THE HECK IS SPENCER?! AHHH! update soon!! PLEASE!

ok, so its been like 4 months since you’ve posted on this an u left me and probably millions of others completely hanging… i know ur probably busy an sick of writing on this, but please im begging you for at least a couple more posts, just to finish it off… please i will cry if u want me to… please please please please!!!!!
I discovered this story this morning and I have been reading it all day long. OMG!!! I am saddened by the fact that we don’t know what happened to Spencer? Please finish at least one more to let us know if she is stil alive. LOVE YOUR WRITING…totally emotional…

I just re-read this story from the beginging because this is so good. And I wanted to “fill” in the blanks. I went by your “@=the past and **=the present” guide line and it made things alot easier for me so thank you. I’m sorry that Spencer can’t carry a child of her own because listening to Paula talk about how beautiful she was as a little girl made me want to cry. That was such a sweet flash back of Spence saying her prayers. This story is so beautiful and bitter sweet. Your a great writer because I can picture everything in my head as I read along. Where is Spencer? Is she ok? They have to have a happily ever after because they’ve been through so much together. I love this story!
