You’re Just Jealous Cause We’re Young and In Love – (Chapter: Fortunate Fool)

“Uh…right. Well, you see, I don’t really remember everything…it was all happening so fast, and as you know, I wasn’t exactly in the best mind-state.”

“It’s okay. If you don’t mind, I’d still like to hear what happened.” Ashley nodded, took a deep breath and decided to tell Spencer about the night starting from the moment her and Amy had decided to go for a drive. She wasn’t quite sure why she started her story there, probably because she didn’t really want to talk about the crash. But she knew she had to tell the blonde everything. She could tell the woman was giving her her undivided attention. When she finished her story, she hesitantly looked into those beautiful blue eyes and saw a few tears trail their way down the blonde’s face. Her chest constricted in fear, thinking that this was what she had been expecting all along. She braced herself for either crying or angry words, but they never came. Spencer quickly brushed away the tears as she noticed the fear in the other woman’s eyes.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” Ashley shook her head in disbelief. Why was she apologizing?

“You don’t have to apologize. I don’t know why you are.”

“I shouldn’t be crying. I didn’t mean to scare you or anything. It’s just…it’s scary, not being able to remember anything before then, you know? I just wish I could…but I can’t. Maybe it’s better that way, but it doesn’t stop me from being scared.” The older woman nodded her head in understanding. “Thank you, for telling me, and not holding anything back,” Ashley smiled weakly and knew that she was referring to telling her about everything, the things that had occurred before the crash. “Well, I really should be getting some rest,” she finally said after a few moments of silence.

                “Oh, right…of course.”

“Just so you know, I don’t hate you. You don’t have to be afraid to be in here. I’m glad that you actually came here.”

“Thanks. I appreciate you…not yelling at me. Even though I think I deserve it.”

“You don’t need to be yelled out. You need to be understood. It would do me no good to yell at you. It won’t make me feel any better to put someone down, and it certainly won’t make me heal any better. I do feel better that we got a chance to talk, for however little time we did.” She gently squeezed Ashley’s hand, both just noticing that they’d been holding hands for the entire visit. They looked down at their joined hands and then back up at each other. They both blushed, and the older woman removed her hand and started to leave.
