Chapter One Part One: The days drew on… after the insemination.

Tina sat at her desk fiddling with pencils and pens, unsure of what to be doing when all her thoughts gathered and stuck themselves in the corner of her mind that was directly linked to Bette. She sat watching the clock and attempting to get back to work but she couldn’t really concentrate. Three days in counting. Three days after her love became pregnant and now they must wait. Bette’s calm and reassuring voice filled her head. We’re fine, baby is fine, everything will be just fine… I promise. She could smell Bette’s shampoo and feel her hands on her shoulders and softly starting to rub her arms.

    Eva: Tina?

Tina jerked and sat straight and looked at her thoughts intruder.

Tina: Oh! Sorry, did I nod off again?

The tall Latina gave the blond an appraising look.

Eva: Go home, take a holiday or something. Celebrate with your wife, you aren’t doing anything but sitting and thinking instead of working which you do too much of anyways. So please, go home and take a break.

Tina didn’t need to be told twice. She began to pack her things.

Tina: I just can’t get my mind off of her, I worry over nothing.

    Eva raised her eyebrows.

Eva: Over nothing? It’s gotta be something.

Tina shook her head and grabbed her coat. She gave Eva a nod before she began to run towards the quickly closing elevator doors.

Eva: Give her a kiss for me!

Tina only had time to throw a half assed wave behind her before the doors closed. Eva stood outside her office for a few minutes before she wandered back in and sat on Tina’s couch. What am I doing in here?…..

Bette lay out by the pool with a soft jazz CD on for comfort, while she napped in the shade of an umbrella. The cubes in her ice tea slowly melted and she watched them in surprise that she didn’t do the same in the California heat. As she lay, Bette slowly moved a mocha hand and began to rub just beneath her belly button, she smiled, still with her eyes closed and let the quiet sounds of the water, the soft beat of the music and the feel of her baby beneath her palm carry her to a deeper slumber until she heard the music stop abruptly.

Tina: Aren’t we all cozy in the sunshine today Miss. Porter….

Bette heard Tina’s smile before she saw it and when she turned her head she couldn’t help but smile wider as the sun bounced off her lovers loose gold locks.

Bette: Quite cozy… you’re home early?

Bette asked as she patted the empty space beside her for Tina to fill.

Tina: I got told to take a break… Eva sends her love.

The brunette found her soul’s comfort as she lay against her wife. Tan cheek against vanilla chest and thighs between thighs they found themselves in a mass of lovely limbs, snuggled together.

    Bette: You are very tense.

Bette stated as she rubbed down Tina’s back. Tina agreed.

    Tina: I’m worried.

Bette: Why are you so worried…

Tina gazed down at Bette who looked up at her expectantly, obviously beginning to worry about whatever was causing Tina to tense so extremely.

Tina: I’m worried about the baby… it’s only been three days, we have to watch for the next two months… I just don’t want complications……. we really need this….

Bette nodded. She knew they needed this baby…. it would bring them closer… they both wanted this so very much…. but it wasn’t like the entirety of their relationship was being held together by the thought of this baby…. or… No.. it wasn’t. Bette banished those thoughts and snuggled back up against her love.

Bette: Everything is going to be fine honey, you’re good, I’m good, everything will be good. I promise.

As Bette spoke those final words, Tina felt almost lost upon hearing them…. Can you keep that promise Bette… really?

    Comments

    1. Well, Tina is not the same person that Bette is, so although the positions are reversed, Tina’s choices could be totally different that Bette’s. It will be interesting to see, given the same circumstances how Tina’s different personality would have handled them. Great start!
