IS THIS LOVE
CHAPTER 98
“This is something out of a storybook Tina – I cannot believe the view“
Tina walked outside to join Bette on the terrace outside the cabin. She slipped her arms around her and snuggled close to her.
“Moosehead Lake babe “
“Its gorgeous – so peaceful “
“Just you and me Bette “
Bette turned and rested her hands on Tina’s waist and smiled at the blonde. Tina looked really at ease – she was wearing jeans and a warm black shirt – her long blonde hair was tied back in a ponytail. To Bette there was no more beautiful sight than the woman who was looking at her with those lovely hazel eyes
“This is going to be really good for us”
“It is – away from everyone and everything – just the two of us “
Bette yawned “Driving was a mistake after all that scotch and wine last night “
“We survived – it was good to take turns. We haven’t really driven anywhere before.”
“That’s what happens when you live in New York – its not worth trying to drive”
“it’s a nice car Bette”
“The Mercedes is a lovely car – it’s a shame it just sits in the car storage place “
“You and I should try and get out in it at least once a month – we could just pack a bag and drive – you are a good driver Bette “
“So are you and I am usually very select who I let drive my car “
“I did notice some tension for the first 10 miles or so then you seemed to relax and realise that I wasn’t about to plough the car and the two of us into some truck”
“Sorry – I am not the greatest passenger in my own car – but you drive very well. I have been in too many fast cars with Helena – I think that is enough to make anyone nervous “
“We are not going to spend all weekend talking about THAT subject are we ?”
“No Ti – you and I are in a beautiful cabin with a great view of the lake. I have got you to myself Kennard – I do not intend to mess that up “
“I don’t suppose many women have taken you away for a few days before have they?”
“Not really – I know that I am too controlling “
“I don’t find that about you “
“Really ?”
“No – I know your past and I know all about the models and executives and all that but I see you as some one who is so kind and thoughtful. Maybe you can be guilty of trying to make the world the way you want it but there is nothing wrong with that. You are not the tough cookie that you used to pretend to be “
“I hope I am not “
“No – you are not. You have to be tough in business – its your livelihood and that means you have to be hard at times. I have never seen that side to you “
Bette opened her mouth to speak but as it would have been about what had happened at Peggy’s office she closed her mouth again and pulled Tina into a hug. Tina held onto her and stroked her back. Finally when the embrace ended Tina gave Bette the sweetest kiss – gently brushing her lips against Bette’s.
“I love you “
“I love you “ Bette replied softly “So much “
“Come on – lets go and explore – and before it starts getting dusk we will need to find a store – I think there was one just as we turned down the dirt road that led here. Actually there are some maps and flyers inside”
Bette kissed Tina “Anything you say sweetheart – anything you say “

This is going to be good for Bette and Tina. Maybe they can begin to talk about the future and what that will look like. It is clearly evident that if forced into a choice between her mother and Bette, she would choose Bette. It would not be pleasant nor easy, but Bette has her heart. And the same for Bette. If forced to choose between Helena as her best friend or Tina, Tina would win hands down. They are each other’s future.
I feel good that they are on the same page with respect to Emma and Helena. They need to step back and let things develop as they will. Tina should avoid her mother for a couple of weeks. Let things cool down and then talk to her and tell her mother how she was embarrassed and humiliated by her mother’s outburst. And if she has a bone to pick with Bette or her that she have a private audience to discuss it. But calling each other a “bitch” would not be tolerated. If she want an adult relationship with her adult daughter, she would refrain from such behavior both in public and in private.
I want to know what to know how Helena is going to respond to the events of the evening. Will she understand that her mother knew about the lost painting to Emma? Will she realize that Peggy was making her life doubly miserable at work because of it? Will she realize that staying with Emma could cost her the long term friendship of Bette? Will that make a difference in the path she chooses? The fact that her mother now has a painting which is a tribute to her father which would not exist had Bette not lost the deal be the saving grace for this whole fiasco? Can she deal with the public display of anger shown by Emma who will more than likely not be very repentant for it? How mature is Helena? How willing is she to trade one person’s shadows for another?
I am hooked on this story….and look forward to the upcoming chapters. Thank you?
Very good chapter!
I am glad that they are building a solid relationship and are trying not to let H&E influence their relationship.
Looking forward to read more about Bette & Tina.
Good chapter. Bette has nothing to be sorry about. She did a very good thing, What possible reason could Helena have to be upset with Bette? I certainly hope she doesn’t try to justify Emma’s anger at there being a second painting. That makes no sense. A painting that includes her father is a beautiful sentiment. Glad that Bette and Tina are so tight because I have a feeling all hell is going to break lose.
I agree with Billy. This is where nice people like Bette feel guilty even though she did nothing wrong and the mean bullies prey on that niceness. Not a fan of Emma or Helena for that matter but a I AM a fan of this story
thanks
Nice one, ally! Thanks for some extended T + B moments.
Sweet how Bette doesn’t push the issue of moving in together. Tina will come up with it sooner or later.
The “dull and domestic” made me smile. It’s so good to see how Tina reflects on her grown self-confidence, self-worth. Now that she knows that she deserves Bette as partner, it’s time for Bette to work on her fear of losing Tina.
Did we alrady had an opening at the Porter Gallery where Bette could show off Tina? Would be interesting in case some of Bette’s exes show up.
Maybe I start re-reading from ch 1.
stay safe
Nice, loving chapter. Great job.
From the beginning of this story, I had my doubts about Emma & her cavalier attitude towards everyone including her only child – Tina. I too don;t know how or why Kate would have tolerated this rudeness & demeaning manner in which she treats others if she doesn’t get her own way.
Seems that she will ultimately lose her daughter if she makes Tina chose between herself & Bette.
Looking forward to Helena’s response to this mess that Emma has created. I do feel for Helena as she just wants what Bette has found – someone to love her & share a life.
Stay safe & thanks!!!
Thanks for taking the time to post before going to work and providing us with a nice piece of Bette and Tina. Have a feeling it may be a lovely calm before a dramatic storm!
Looking forward to Helena’s reactions.
