    Turmoil.


    “Do you think we should call the police?” I asked.

    “Why don’t we give it another couple days? If she doesn’t turn up soon, we will,” he replied.


     

     

    But she didn’t turn up the next day. Or the day after that. I had spent the time in her apartment, a lot of it crying, thinking that the first place she went to would be here. I was exhausted; I couldn’t keep anything down so I just stopped eating, and I barely slept. The last time I had spoken to her was Thursday night and by Sunday night, we had heard nothing. Jordan had promised we would notify the police Monday so I tried to fall asleep with the promise that perhaps we would learn something tomorrow.

    In the middle of the night I heard the front door open. I jumped up, grabbing the first ‘weapon’ I could find (the remote control for the t.v.) and slowly made my way out to the foyer area. The lights were off and I couldn’t see anything. I was next to the switch and I raised the remote control, ready to strike, as I turned the lights on. She screamed and I screamed in response; it was Ashley. I didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, yell, hit her, or kiss her. I just stood there, shocked. She looked fine, if a little tired.

    “Hey Spence,” she said quietly. I couldn’t say anything. I just threw the remote down and walked out the door. I made it to the elevators but she got there before I could push the button. She pulled me back and I threw her off of me, pushing the button that indicated ‘down’ and waited. “Spencer, please.” I shook my head and felt the tears rise up. The elevator finally came and as I took a step in, she pulled me out, this time with more force.

    “Get off of me! Get the hell off of me! Don’t touch me! Don’t even look at me!” I cried. I tried to push her away but by the time I did, the elevator had closed. I don’t know what came over me, but I started to hit her. Not anything that could hurt her severely, but badly enough so she would maybe begin to get a glimpse of how I was feeling. “Do you have any idea what you put me through!? Do you have any idea what it felt like, not knowing where you were, or if you were even alive?! Do you?!” I was shouting by this point, but I couldn’t stop hitting her. “You are the most ridiculous, insensitive, and selfish person I have ever met!” When I had finally pushed her into a wall, I exhaustedly crumpled up into a hysterical ball, my arms wrapped around my knees.

    15. Like Usher, I’m going to make a Confession: Do I want Ashley and Spencer to get back together? Absolutely! However, I’m willing to admit that the dirty dog in me wants to see Spencer make Ashley work for it…and work, if thy name is Carly so be it! Another fantastic chapter, Kozmic. Please post soon!
