After arguing with Glen about her decision to go out with Carmen, then begging him to watch Sammy for the night, Spencer left for the restaurant with Carmen. It was the same Italian restaurant Carmen always took Spencer to, even though she knew Spencer didn’t like Italian. Spencer knew it was just Carmen’s way of letting her know how little what she wanted mattered.
The dinner was mostly silent, at least on Spencer’s part. She sat quietly as Carmen alternated between berating her about how “stupid” she was for breaking up their family and begging her to come back.
“You know, I really just don’t get you sometimes,” Carmen said, stabbing at her food. “It’s like you want to be miserable or something. Is that what you want, Spencer?”
Spencer lightly shook her head, as she stared down at her un-touched salad.
“Then what? Is this some kind of fucking game to you? To fuck up people’s lives? To take my daughter away from me?”
“I let you see her whenever you want,” Spencer answered meekly.
“That’s not the fucking point and you know it. We’re a family. But instead of trying to work this out, you go running home to mommy and daddy like a five-year-old. Sammy probably has more sense than you.”
“Carmen please, I don’t want to argue.”
“We’re not arguing. I’m talking to myself and you’re just sitting there ignoring everything that comes out of my fucking mouth.”
“I’m listening, Carmen. I always do.”
“Then why can’t we go to a therapist? You’ve been playing this little game now for two fucking years. All I’m asking for is just one more chance, a second chance.”
“I can’t…”
“Spencer, please,” Carmen’s angry eyes had suddenly turned pleading. “I need you. Sammy needs both her parents, together.”
Spencer struggled to blink back tears. They had this argument all the time, and it always left Spencer feeling painfully guilty. She knew she had broken up their family. She had been the one to give up on it. Carmen had hurt her, badly. But instead of staying and helping Carmen through “thick and through thin,” she had acted selfishly and left. Spencer knew she was the reason Carmen was so unhappy. And she wanted Carmen to be happy. But Carmen’s blind rage made the idea of going back to her inconceivable. Because despite all of her begging and all of her promises, Spencer knew the Carmen sitting across from her right now was the same one who put her in the hospital.

I am a huge fan of Hoops and so I decided to check this story out. I absolutely love it. I think your writing is amazing. Poor Spencer. What is wrong with her daughter. Is it curable? Poor thing. So now she will have to leave or attempt to leave her assistant job? I wonder how Ashley will take that. Great story. Please update again and soon. Oh and PLEASE update hoops its one of my fav fav fav stories.

I think you might just be the ‘goaskalice’ of most recent times here at this site. And what I mean is, your storylines are – have the potential to be – really captivating and have the depth to them that I can’t believe this is merely fan fiction. Bottom line: great stuff, awesome story, awesome writer. PMS!!!
I agree that you are amazing at what you do. this story is def one of my faves and I get so excited when I see a new update. this chap had me fuming at carmen, and a tad bit at spence too for taking this shit for so long. it’s about time she took her parents up on the offer, it should be good in the long run. and one thing caught my attention.. spence had been on a date w kelly from venom and then kelly got transferred.. any chance ash did that on purpose? just kind of struck me as a possibility. anyway awesome job, pms!
