The Odyssey of Me – (Chapter: Getaway)

It’s the end of the day. The bell just rang. Everyone is rushing to leave the school, but no one more so than Glen. Several guys are chasing him. They’re trying to get close enough to grab him, but he’s managing to outrun them.

“C’mere Queerlin!” One of them shouts.

“Yeah… we just wanna help…Another says insincerely.

“Yeah… help beat the homo outa ya! A third guy says with a deep sinister tone as others laugh wickedly.

Glen makes it to the exit and throws the door open. Much to his surprise Aiden is there in his car with the engine running.

    “Get in!” Aiden instructs hurriedly.

Glen opens the passenger’s side door, and gets in. As they speed off, Glen has had time to catch his breath, and asks Aiden a question.

“How’d ya know to be there?”

“They wanted me to join in.” Aiden enlightens.

“Not that I’m not grateful, but why didn’t ya?” Glen wonders.

“I’m not gonna let rumors ‘bout if you’re gay or not get in the way of our friendship…no matter what!” Aiden assures Glen.

Glen and Aiden continue talking. Aiden has asked Glen if he wants to crash at his place tonight, and now Glen’s calling home to see if it’s okay.

    Phone call

“Hi Mom, I’m with Aiden can I stay at his place tonight?” Glen asks hopefully.

“It’s a school night.”  Paula responds.

“I know it’s a school night, but I had a really bad day…Please!” Glen pleads.

Hearing the desperation and hurt in her son’s voice Paula agrees.

    Ashley’s House

Ashley walks in the door. Christine heard her coming in and is now standing in front of her.

“Thank God, you didn’t bring that damn charity case home with you!” Christine remarks, she’s already starting in on her daughter.

“Don’t talk ‘bout my boyfriend like that!” Ashley yells.

Christine is disgusted by the news.

“Your boyfriend? No…absolutely not. I will not have my daughter datin’ some kind freak! Do you have any idea what my friends will say…and the press…There’s no way in hell they’re gonna romantically link you to that genetic accident!” Christine rants.

Each venom filled word pierces Ashley’s heart, and she’s about to explode.

“First of all Mother I don’t give a fuck what you think! Second, his name is Spencer! If ya ever call him by anything else again, I promise you will regret it! You are every bad, horrible, hateful word you called him and so much more…do you have any  idea how much it hurts me that you don’t give a damn about me and my happiness? All you care ‘bout is you’re precious reputation. Newsflash Mom, real parents don’t care what a bunch of dumbasses at a country club think…they support their kids no matter what… it’s called love and it’s unconditional! I know it’s not a completely foreign concept to you its how ya feel ‘bout Daddy’s money.”

    1. I’ve tried to get into this story but I can’t. I love Spencer and Ashley because they are gay women, not straight or gay men and this AU version is just not for me. Nothing personal, I know this is your life story but I like reading about lesbians in my spare time because I’m surrounded by straights 24-7. Good luck with the story.
