Time Heals…and Love Grows – Chapter 5
Tina had a hard time sleeping. She was in her home after three months. Though she longed every night to sleep in her bed, her sheets, her pillow with her wife.she was overwhelmed and a little excited. Bette was exhausted and after soon she slipped into sleep in Tinas arms. Tina took this time to learn Betteall over again. She kissed Bettes head to smell her hair. She touched her collar-bone to feel that Bettes for real. She studied Bettes eyes, her lips, her shoulders.she kissed Bette on the forehead again and quietly crept out the bed.
Tina walked to the kitchen to have some water. As she passed the hallwayshe remembered what happened there a few hours back.and she purposefully passed all the landmarks in the houseas if meeting her house.as if telling itI am back. The kitchen wall and she could see herself pinned to the wall while Bette ravished her, the dinner table and she could see Bettes face dancing into emotions when she picked up the pregnancy test, the kitchen top and she saw Bette standing between her legs while she sat there playing with Bette hair.the floodgate of memories opened up.the pool outside shining in moonlight reminded Tina of the numerous times Bette had made love to her in the pool, on the side-steps, on the hammock, in the lounge seat. She looked into the living room.the couch.Tina didnt even know if she remembered all the times they used this couch for their love makingTina realized how hard it would be to live without Bette in this house.and wondered..how did Bette live in this house without crying everydayshe probably did cry everyday.
Tina came back to the bedroom and placed her mug on the nightstand. What she saw made her resistance to not cry melt away. There was a journal..the journal Tina gave Bette last year. In the bookmark were tied two rings.Bettes and Tinas wedding rings..together. She picked up the journal and went to the living room to sit on the couch. She opened the page marked with book-mark. It was empty. She took the rings in her hands. Kissed them. She knew Bette must have longed to keep them together.as an omen. And Bette was right.
Holding the rings in her hands..she flipped the page backwards.
