Tina tried on a dozen outfits, she was nervous and excited about her lunch date? Was it a date? or was it lunch with a friend?
Tina finally settled on a white pair of slacks that fit like a glove and a light blue blouse. She got to her office Sara and Angie whistled at her, You look great Tina they said.
Tina: Thanks I have a lunch meeting.

Bette was having the same problem, she hadn’t slept very well, dreaming and thinking of Tina, the kiss, Tina dancing, her hips, her smile, Jeez Porter she thought get a grip. Go easy, don’t scare her off. Bette finally decided on a navy pair of slacks and jacket with a pale pink blouse. When she got to her office she cleared her afternoon appointments, she wanted to be prepared for the lunch and whatever?

At ten til 1:00 Bette was at the restaurant waiting, she waited outside, she turned and saw Tina walking toward her, My god she was a vision, the white outfit, her blonde hair, she had a light or aura around her, Bette was struck with this and was momentarily speechless.
Tina: Bette? Bette are you okay?
Bette: Oh, sorry, Hi Tina, I was just, you look beautiful. she smiled at her.
Tina: Thank you, you look good too.
They went into the restaurant and were seated at a table in the back, a good place to be able to talk. They ordered salads and water. They were comfortable with each other and conversation came easily.
Bette: Tina, I’m sorry I showed up at RAIN last night, I just, I was going to just watch you, I had to see you, and the DJ was my sister Kit, she had invited me and when you mentioned you were going, I couldn’t resist the oppornunity to see you.
Tina: The DJ was your sister? She was great.
and don’t worry Bette it was fun, I’m glad you were there, I’d have been bored out of my mind otherwise. they laughed
Bette: So lets talk, lets get to know each other, I know its what I want, do you?
Bette looked directly in Tina’s eyes. Tina was melting she found her voice and said
Tina: Yes Bette, I think I do.
Bette smiled: So Dr. Kennard your a pediatrician? Is that what you’ve always wanted to do?
Tina: Yeah, as long as I can remember I hoped and dreamed of being a doctor. I love it, sometimes its hectic, stressful and even heartbreaking, but always challenging and rewarding. How about you Bette? Have you always been an art lover?
Bette: Yea, I was an English major in college, but a really great professor showed me the light so to speak, So I started studying art also, and I’ve never stopped. I do love it.
Tina: It shows, your very good at it.
Bette: Thank you.
They were visiting with each other and just enjoying each, Tina looked at her watch.
Tina: Oh jeez I need to get going, I’ll be late, she signaled for the check.
Bette: I’ll get it Tina.
Tina: No, I invited you to lunch.
Bette: okay, I owe you, how about dinner tonight?
Tina: I’m sorry I’m having dinner with Eric, I need to talk to him, I can’t cancel tonight.
Bette: Okay, how about we do something tommorrow, its Saturday, do you work?
Tina: No I’m off on weekends. I’ll call you tonight after I get home from dinner and we can make plans, okay?
Bette: that sounds good.
Tina: Don’t you have to get to the gallery?
Tina is standing to leave
Bette: No, I took the afternoon off.
Tina: you did?
Bette: I didn’t know how long lunch might take. smiling at Tina.
Tina: Hold that thought (she took out her cell phone and dialed)
Tina: Sara hey its Tina, well my meeting is running long (she said smiling at Bette). Whats on the agenda?, ok, can you see if Carrie will see them, on Jacob re-xray, if it looks good recheck in two weeks, if the cast needs replaced do it, on Michelle make sure she talks to Carrie or you without her mother in the room, and make sure she is taking her meds, see me next week, and Teddy take his CBC and a Chem 20 and tell his mom I’ll call her on Monday. Okay, and you and Angie leave early today an I’ll see you on Monday, have a good weekend, I will Bye.
Bette: Wow, that was impressive, so you have a free afternoon?
Tina: looks that way.
Bette: I know there’s a nice park a couple of blocks from here, we could go enjoy the afternoon and continue talking.
Tina: that would be great.
They walked to the park and found a bench under a shade tree and sit down.
Bette: Well Tina, lets see I have a question, this will help us get to know each other alittle better, then you can ask me one. What are your three favorite flavors?
Tina: umm, well I love chocolate, and strawberries, (thinking) oh i got it slippery nipples.
Bette: laughing, slippery nipples uh? a girl after my own heart.
Tina blushed and said: you know what I mean, the butterscotch and kahlua flavor.
Bette: I’m just teasing you, I love that flavor too.
Tina: and your other favorites?
Bette: I love mocha anything, ice cream, coffee and peach.
Tina: thats a good one. Okay my question.
Bette what hobby do you have that makes you breathe, you know the thing besides your work, besides love, that you can do and it takes you away?
Bette: Good question. I’d have to say my photography, I take pictures, I started my freshman year in college and I’ve never stopped, it does exactly what you described it takes me away.
Tina: What kind of pictures do you take?
Bette: all kinds, anything, people, places.
Tina: I’d like to see them sometime, your photos I mean.
Bette: sure, I keep them kinda private, but there’s always an exception. So Tina whats the thing that takes you away?
Tina: my music, I play guitar,piano, and sing alittle. only for myself, I don’t perform or anything. Karoke if I’ve had to much to drink, but I really love to play and sing.
Bette: God, your beautiful, smart, and talented,(she hadn’t touched her today but she did now, she placed her hand on Tinas on the bench between them). Tina didn’t move her hand, it felt good.
Bette: Tina I know this is awkard for you , but I want you to kown some things, is it okay for me to continue?
Tina hesistated and was looking down, she then looked in Bettes eyes.
Tina: yes, please continue
Bette: Okay, here it goes, first I want you to know I’ve never said these things to anyone ever. I feel an attraction to you I cannot deny. I’ve never felt this intensity with anyone ever. I’ve known I was a ***** since college, and I’ve always dreamed of a partner and family, knowing as a ***** it might not be possible, but since I’ve met you I’ve been dreaming those dreams again. I’ve been thinking of you day and night since we met, an since I kissed you, I’ve well, I keep replaying it in my mind, because frankly it was the most amazing kiss ever. I don’t know what your thinking but I’m willing to take it slow and let this happen. If you don’t feel the same, I’ll understand, but I really think we, if your willing that is, should give it a chance. That earring getting lost was fate. I believe in fate, I believe in this, us.
Tina took Bettes hand and held it in between her own. Bette I cannot deny I’m very attracted to you. This spark, this vibe is something I’ve never experianced with a man, let alone a woman. so my main concern is that I’ve never been with a woman, I’ve always believed you can’t help who you’re attracted to, and you can’t help who you fall in love with. I’ve always had an open mind, but this is all so new to me, I’m a little nervous and alittle worried, I’m afraid of the intensity of this feeling between us, its so strong but so right, I’m nervous about pleasing a woman, I mean I’m a doctor, I know all the parts but I’ve never well you know, made love to a woman, so I want you to know I’ve thought of nothing but that kiss, your smile, your eyes and since last night the way you move dancing. I would be lying to myself If I said no we can’t pursue this, so, so, yeah lets try it, lets go slow, please be patient with me and lets always be honest, so after hearing my conditions if your still interested?
Bette: oh yes Tina, I can follow those rules, I promise I won’t rush, I won’t make you or do I want you to do anything you don’t want to do. We’ll go at your pace, and honesty is a must always.
Tina: one more thing
Bette: Name it.
Tina: We don’t go out again until I break up with Eric.
Bette looking disappointed: okay.
Tina: smiling, I’ll do it at dinner tonight.
Bette squeezed her hand: so you’ll still call me when you get home tonight?
Tina: Yes, I really need to go now but Thank you for a great day, and I promise I will call you when I get home tonight.
Bette: Thank you Tina for a great day, for having a open mind and an open heart.
Tina: Bette I’m going to kiss you now.
Bette: oh, Tina leaned in and gave her the softest sweetest kiss, and that jolt of electricity was still there, it was all both of them could do to pull away from it, when they did they gazed into each others eyes and they both knew they were falling in love.
